The burial plot was rewalked in Jul 2001 by Susie Martin-Rott and Mary Hamilton Singleton. The first death recorded as in 1851, the last in 1885.
At the time of the rewalk, Mr. Mincer advised that they had cleaned the cemetery up and reset markers on several occasion, but that gophers and foxes had undermined the earth below and the markers kept falling over. They put fencing around it in hopes the animals would be deterred from entering. He further indicated there were, at one time, more than the two markers we had located as well as some burials outside of the fence.
The grass was up past the waist in most of the tiny cemetery and around the fence so were unable to determine how many others may be buried there. There is no gate to the fence, so in order to gain access one must scale the fence. It is not advised that you visit this site without contacting Mr. Mincer at his farm across the road from the field because it is a very rough going. Nobody should go there alone, as the ground within the fenced area is full of gopher holes, weeds, and who knows what else!
It appears that someone aware that the ground was not too stable spent a great deal of money to place a new marker containing the names of those resting there. All the below listings were found on one huge newer style marker-Robert & Eliza on one side, one side had John, Mary A., Edward and Robert V., third had Margaret & William. A second older marker for Margaret was found toppled on the ground and a large field stone was found just outside the fence.
We were unable to locate these people listed in the 1930's WPA listing, so apparently this cemetery was not included in those readings.
