Elizabeth was probably the "good honest woman" killed by Pequot Indians at Southampton, L.I., NY. Four of the Indians, including "a great man called Blue Sachem", were hanged at Hartford, CT, after Wayandance, sachem of the Montauk, found out they knew of the murder.
He married, 2d, Mrs. Ann Johns (Johnes or Jones), 25 July 1660, in Southampton, L.I., NY.
[15337] Other sources say she was the widow of Edward Jones. Children were all by the first wife.

It is not clear if this is the John Wheeler who is listed as heir-at-law of Alexander McCoy Jr. Further information is needed. Perhaps the John Wheeler who was neighbor of Barlow McCoy is not the same John Wheeler who was brother of Nancy Wheeler McCoy.
[6539] 1880 census lists this person? as a neighbor of census taker Barlow McCoy! parents b. MD and VA, b. WV. Problem: Age looks like 67, agrees with cem. record, but I wonder if 57 would be more likely.
[6540] Brown Co. Cemeteries, p. 128, transcript indicates death date, no birth date, and "B. in Virginia now West Virginia". This is the basis for identifying cem. record with the census listing.

[6535] John Wheeler, neighbor of Barlow McCoy in 1880 census, reports his parents b. in MD and VA. This may be John Jr.
[6536] Again, assuming that Mary is actually the mother of the other Wheelers found in the 1850 Brown Co., IL census.

1880 census, Pearl Tp., Pike Co., IL, ED 193, p. 1, shows parents b. VA. However, birthplaces on this census are wildly inconsistent.
[6542] Date from cemetery record.

She may have died even before 1860. Probate records show that George McCoy (died in 1860) left a widow Lorinda, who was the step-mother of the children of George McCoy.
[6351] In 1850 census, George and Nancy are living in household # 594, no children. Household # 600 is the Allen D. Draper family, where Minerva Wheeler Draper is apparently caring George and Nancy's 2 infants as well as her own.
[6352] All this based on assumption that her marriage record actually pertains to George McCoy son of Alexander Sr., but it does seem to fit the known facts. Nancy is further assumed to be sister of Minerva Wheeler.
[14816] Brown Co. marriage records Book A #313 has George McCoy m. Nancy Wheeler. This would account for parentage of Alexander McCoy b. 1847, the date of same, and the fact that he is being cared for by Minerva Wheeler Draper 1850.
