His obituary was found in a collection of undated newpaper clippings at the public library of Keosauqua, Iowa:
John Harvey Hull was born in Van Buren county, May 3, 1866 and departed from this life March 3, 1932, being 65 years and 10 months old at the time of his death.
He was the son of Charles and Rhoda Ann Hull, being the oldest of three children. One sister, Selina Lorning, who has preceded him in death and one brother, George A. of Cantril.
On February 1, 1891, he was united in marriage to Laura B. Wollam. To this union four children were born--Jesse Glen, who died in infancy; Charles Leo and William Earle, of Cantril and Mrs. Nannie Gore, of Keosauqua; and a foster daughter Mrs. Addie Barker of Gibbs, Mo.
He was first stricken with paralysis December 12, 1931, and has since been in failing health. All through his illness he bore his suffering patiently and when stricken at the last was planning to move to Cantril. He was a kind husband and father, always ready to do what he thought was for the best.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, 2 sons, 1 daughter and 1 foster daughter, 8 grandchildren and one brother, George A., of Cantril and a host of relatives and friends.
We miss thee from our home, dear father; We miss thee from they place, A shadow o'er our life is cast; We miss the sunshine of thy face; We miss they kind and willing hand, The fond and earnest care, Our home is dark without thee We miss thee everywhere.
We wish to express our thanks to all of our friends and neighbors for their sympathy and assistance at the death of our dear husband and father. The Family.

The cemetery records indicate "Orina" as the wife of John Kees, while the 1880 census indicates "Lorinda" as the mother-in-law of William Kees. Perhaps these are 2 different persons (the birthdates do not quite match). It would be helpful to have an obituary for her! Apparently, she is the Lorinda who married George McCoy (his second wife), and thus she became the step-mother of "Alexander McCoy Jr." who died in 1866. Death certificates of her children Samuel and Sarah give her name as Lorinda Hull of Madison Co., OH.
[6511] 1880 census shows Lorinda McCoy age 66 b. OH, parents both b. PA, as mother-in-law of Williams Kees b. 1835 OH, widower with 5 children. If this is correct, Orina cannot be the mother of Samuel!
[14817] Marriage record says George McCoy and Arrena Keys.

Charles evidently is the son of a brother of William Hullinger. He first appears in 1900 census of Clinton Co., IA with wife Millie A. and lists parents as b. OH and NY. and in 1920 Sarah E. Hullinger age 82 b. NY is living with him, but listed as mother-in-law. His middle name comes from the marriage record of his daughter Eleanor.
The situation may be more complicated. A pedigree on FamilySearch.org shows Charles S. Hullinger, son of John Dudley Hullinger and Sarah Church, married first to "Millie" Hullinger, but also married to Minnie A. "McDougeall" — and both women are shown as the mother of Eleanor Hullinger, born in 1883. However, this version is not supported by any other record we have discovered, not even secondary sources. Eleanor's birth record has been located in Greene Co., Iowa, and it shows her parents as Charles Hullinger and Millie Hullinger. Even more conclusively, in the 1925 Iowa census (Clinton, Clinton Co., Iowa), which lists the parents of every person enumerated, she is Eleanor H. Ireland, daughter of Charles S. Hullinger and Millie A. Hullinger, and she is living with her mother, Millie A. Hullinger, daughter of William S. Hullinger and Sarah E. McDougall.
[14874] by Joseph W. Hubbard, minister -- a double wedding: Millie A. Hullinger to (her cousin?) Charles S. Hullinger, and Lizzie A. Hullinger to John R. Anderson. (See 2d marriage info. for her aunt Hester McDougall!)

Perhaps Ira was the brother of the Charles S. Hullinger who married Ida's sister Millie? His death record in Clinton Co., Iowa, as transcribed on FamilySearch.org, lists his father as M. H. Hullinger, and his mother as Mackey Raley. On the 1880 census, he is with his parents Martin Hullinger and "Nackie" in College Springs, Page Co., Iowa. They are also in College Springs for the 1885 Iowa State census, where the parents are Martin H. Hullinger and his wife Mackey.
A pedigree found on FamilySearch.org gives his full name as Ira Ward Hullinger, and says he is the son of Martin Hitt Hullinger and Nackie Straley. This pedigree makes Ira and Ida first cousins, their fathers were both sons of John Hullinger and Olive Coe.
