Marriage certificate for Elisha D. Jackson and Isabel Celia Jackson, numbered 462, dated 19 Oct. 1842, (photocopy from original record book) with cover certificate dated 21 Aug 1975, from Loyd Jones, County Clerk of Jackson Co., Indiana, attesting that the record was found in "Order Book No. A, page 85." On the opposite page a statement by the officiating minister, John P. Edmonds, Minister of Methodist Episcopal Church says: "I certify that I joined together as husband and wife Elisha D. Jackson & Isabel Celia Millhollen on the 20th day of October 1842." Additionally in another column, about which others on that same page were said to have been "of age," probably of legal age, it says "on oath of John P. Millhollen," which could be that he vouched for the age of his sister, who would've been a couple of months short of her 23rd birthday.

Letter dated 1 Apr 1993 to Bonnie Bunce from David C. Wilson of the Leominster Historical Society which included a typed copy of Leonard COLE’s obituary published in the newspaper Leominster Enterprise on 26 Aug 1885. Also included were a few pages copied from a manuscript at the Lunenburg, Massachusetts Public Library by Cunningham dated 1898, entitled History of Lunenburg, Mass.,, Vol. II, p. 351, which is a narrative on the family and ancestry of Mary HARRIS, wife of Leonard COLE Also part of the letter included information from the City Directories for Leominster on the family of Charles L. COLE, and a picture of the home formerly owned by Leonard COLE on Elm Street.

Letter from Dorothy E. Elliott, Bradford Town Historian, Bradford, Steuben Co., New York to Bonnie Bunce dated 19 Apr 1993, regarding the records she had on people with the surname BENNETT, who were buried in the South Bradford cemetery, including Thankful (Bunce) Bennett, as well as the marriage record for Hattie Bennett to Mr. Wixon, whose mother was Emily Kress, and birth records for Lewis BENNETT and his younger brother, Ephraim BENNETT, Jr.

Letter received 20 Apr 1993, from David L. Martin of Tampa, Florida, which included a computer printout showing the descent from Robert Cole, (born ca. 1598 in England, who came to America in 1630 with Gov. Winthrop) down to Webster Cole, son of Barnet Cole, as well as many other descendants of Webster’s younger brother, Barnet Cole, Jr.

In response to my letter of 7 Oct 1993, received copies of index cards on file at the Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles showing where the remains of James C. MEHAFFEY and his son, Elmer Douglass MEHAFFEY, are buried. Also enclosed were photocopies of completed forms with the caption “Permit to Inter” which gave the dates of death for both men and the cause of death, which agree with the death certificates previously obtained for them from Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s office, copies of which are in the printed version of this genealogy and history on pp. 119-120.

Letter from the Dundee Area Historical Society received in spring of 1994, which included copies of newspaper obituaries for Eliza Ann (BUNCE) LORD; her husband, George P. LORD; a memorial to her brother, Melvin N. BUNCE, who died at the Battle of Gettysburg in the Civil War; and a handwritten copy of an obituary which appeared in the newspaper, Dundee Observer, on 18 Aug 1880 for Eunice (CLEVELAND) OLNEY BUNCE, second wife of Loomis BUNCE. Also included were copies of some pages from S.C. Cleveland's History and Directory of Yates County, New York, and handwritten records of BUNCE names that appeared on several census records for the area, including Jonas Bunce (possibly son of Jacob Bunce), who is referenced under entry for Peter Bunce, Sr. above), whose name appeared on the 1820 census for Reading, Steuben Co., New York, which area was later incorporated into Yates County, New York; and the names of the family of Peter Bunce, Jr. which appeared on the 1855 New York state census, which conforms with family stories of them having returned to New York state from Wisconsin in 1853 before moving to Kansas in the spring of 1857.

Letter from Dorothy W. Bertine of Denton, Texas, secretary of the DeHAVEN Club, to Bonnie Bunce, dated 9 Jul 1994, enclosing copies of pages 167-170 from the book by BERTINE and WILKERSON, Ancestors and Descendants of Lucy Ann and George Ephraim Cleaver BENNETT, ©1988, which details the ancestry of Catherine DEHAVEN, wife of James KENNEDY, the parents of Jesse Osburn KENNEDY.

Letter to Bonnie Bunce from Jeffrey Rollison, Director of Chester County Archives and Records Services, dated 9 Dec 1994, responding to an inquiry on the family of Jesse Osborn KENNADY, record of which appeared on p. 554 of 1860 census of East Nottingham Township, Chester Co., Pennsylvania. Mr. Rollison stated that Jesse O. KENNEDY did not appear on the index of the 1870 census of Chester Co., Pennsylvania, and he was unable to find a probate record for him in the county, so he concluded the family may have moved out of the county, perhaps to Philadelphia or Delaware before 1870, based on two West Chester marriage records he had found. Copies were enclosed of a computer printout showing marriage records from the village of West Chester for Matilda Kennedy to William H. Casho and Lena A. Kennedy to Wellington Priest, although it is not known that these women were the daughters of Jesse O. Kennady of the 1860 Pennsylvania census. It appears now (June, 1998) from an obituary of Jesse Osburn Kennedy dated June, 1906, that Lena A. (Kennedy) Priest was his daughter, since Jesse died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Wellington Priest in West Chester, Chester Co., Pennsylvania. However, the Matilda Kennedy, who married William H. Casho, does not appear to have been Jesse’s daughter for a couple of reasons: (1) information obtained from the Delaware Genealogical Society stated Mrs. William H. (“Tillie”) Casho was born in 1835, and thus she would’ve been about 10 years older than the daughter of Jesse Kennedy named Matilda, who was age 15 at the time of the 1860 census and (2) from Jesse’s obituary, it appears his daughter Matilda married a man named Kenfield, as the names of his seven children were in the obituary and hers was the only name not accounted for by the information in the Bunce Genealogy and History record was “Mrs. Kenfield” who had died before her father’s death. More recent information from newspaper abstracts from the Clinton County, Illinois Historical Society reveal Mrs. Kenfield died in Carlyle, Clinton Co., Illinois and is buried there

Copy of an application for admission to DAR dated 1989 to the Daughters of the American Revolution organization submitted by a descendant of Barnet COLE, which provides her sources for proof of descent, including the book, The Cole Family of Stark, New Hampshire: Descendants of Solomon Cole of Beverly, Massachusetts by Henry Winthrop Hardon, privately printed 1932, p. 70 of which has information on Barnet Cole’s children.

Emails dated 1-Jul-1998, from Richard L. Littell, then historian for the Village of Savona and the Town of Bath, Steuben Co., New York, giving information from his files about which he stated: “The obits came from my files: Lewis Bennett from the Steuben Courier, 10/1/1897; Lida Walling from the [Corning] Evening Leader, 11/1/1917; Charles Walling from the Steuben Courier, 3/29/1918.” Alida (BENNETT) WALLING was a daughter of Lewis and Thankful (BUNCE) BENNETT.

Copies of newspaper clippings from West Chester, Pennsylvania newspapers obtained from the Chester County Historical Society in May, 1998, dated 1906 which provided proof in his obituary that Jesse Osburn KENNEDY was a son of James and Catherine (DEHAVEN) KENNEDY of Chester Co., Pennsylvania along with clippings dated 1905 regarding his brother William Henry KENNEDY’s 50th wedding anniversary celebration and an obituary for him.

In response to a request for information, received by Bonnie Bunce from the Clinton County Historical Society, Carlyle, Illinois on 30 May 2000, typed copies of excerpts from Carlyle, Illinois newspapers and records in the early county record books, concerning the KENNEDY and related families in Carlyle, Illinois.

Copies of applications for social security numbers from the Social Security Administration for Evelyn Veronica (COLE) ULLBERG (SS# 148-20-0233), and Grace Elnora (COLE) RYAN (SS# 058-22-9686) received by Bonnie Bunce, July, 2000, which confirms their parents’ names as well as their dates of birth and place of birth.
