The first annual supper, concert and ball of the Weavers' Progressive Association was held Saturday afternoon and evening and proved a most successful and enjoyable affair. From 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening a supper was served by Caterer James S. Murphy and it was an excellent one. About 300 sat down to the tables during that time. After the feast, a concert was given. The programme was as follows: At the conclusion of the concert, dancing was in order until the hour of midnight. There were 16 well selected numbers on the dance programme. The Germania orchestra furnished the music for dancing and William Hennessy was the prompter. The members in charge were as follows: Floor director, John Burns; assistant, Peter Townley; aids, William H. Jones, Charles Hague, John Kelsall, Charles Malone and Joseph Roy. The committee of arrangements comprised the officers of the association, the members of the executive board and the collectors. |
