AYRES - RYAN [Boston MA Globe, 6 October 1876] AYRES - RYAN -- In Fall River, 3d inst., Mr. Edward Ayers and Miss Mary Ryan.

BANVILLE – FLANNERY [Burlington VT Free Press and Times, Thursday Jan. 19, 1911]  FLANNERY – BANVILLE; The second marriage ceremony to be performed at St. Mary’s Cathedral yesterday was at 7:30 in the morning when J. S. Flannery, bookkeeper in the office of Swift & Co., and Miss Jeannette Banville were united by the Rev. W. P. Crosby.  Miss Mae Flannery, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid and Frank Naylon was best man.  The bride wore white satin and the bridesmaid a gown of pale blue satin.  After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was spread at the Burlington Dining rooms.  Among the guests were the Misses Nora and Mae Flannery of Fall River, Mass., and Mrs. Charles Tibbetts of Nashua, N. BARRY - LOWNEY [Boston MA Globe, 1 July 1913] Lowney - Barry Wedding. The Marriage of Miss Catherine Teresa Barry of this city to Dr. Francis Lowney, a Fall River physician, took place yesterday morning in St. Cecelia's Church, Back Bay. Fr. John J. McGarty officiated. Dr. Lowney first met his bride while he was attending a medical school. After a short honeymoon, the couple will make their home in Fall River.

BOWCOCK - DRISLAN [Boston MA Globe, 29 Sept 1909] BOWCOCK - DRISLAN; Fall River, New England League, Baseball Player Marries. Fall River, Sept 28 -- Benjamin Bowcock, left fielder for the Fall River New England league baseball team, and Miss Helen F. Drislan were married this morning at St. Mary's Cathedral by Rev. Fr. Corr. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Margaret Drislan, and the best man was Bernard McGuire. Mr. and Mrs. Bowcock received many gifts, including a handsome cut glass water set from manager John H. O'Brien of the Fall River team. Mr. and Mrs. Bowcock will live in this city.

BRENNAN - WEBSTER [Newport RI Mercury 25 Nov 1905] Miss Margaret C. Brennan of this city and Mr. John F. Webster of Centre Harbor, N.H., were married at St. Mary's rectory Tuesday afternoon, Rev. William B. Meehan officiating. The bride wore a travelling dress of brown with a hat to match. Miss Elizabeth D. Brennan, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and wore a dress of grey and a grey hat. Mr. Edward McDonna was the best man. A reception followed at the home of the bride on Perry street, which was largely attended, and where many pretty gifts were seen. Mr. and Mrs. Webster left on the New York boat on their wedding trip, and will visit New York, Philadelphia and Washington.

BRENNAN - SUZAN [Boston MA Globe, 7 Sept 1921] Marriage intentions were filed at City Hall Annex Registry yesterday as follows: ... Manuel J. Suzan, patrolman, 1034 Boylston st., and Katherine F. Brennan, supervisor, Fall River.

BROWN - MURPHY [Newport RI Mercury, 31 Jan 1920] The marriage of Miss Margaret Catherine Brown of Fall River to Mr. Dennis Vincent Murphy, son of Michael J. Murphy of this town, took place on Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church, Fall River. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Noreen Brown, and the best man was Mr. Cornelius J. Murphy, brother of the groom, who os a student at Holy Cross College. Mr. & Mrs. Murphy are spending their honeymoon in New York and Washington, D.C. Upon return they will reside with the brode's mother on President avenue, Fall River. They received many beautiful gifts.

BUCKLEY - McCANN [Boston MA Globe, 16 June 1916] Brockton, June 15 - Dr. Charles D. McCann, son of Mrs. Margaret McCann of 29 Goddard road, was married to Miss Rose Buckley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.  John C. Buckley of 29 Waverly st. this evening at St. Edward's Church. Rev. Fr. James H. Loobey officiated. Miss Alice M. Reilly was maid of honor and Frederick McCann, brother of the groom, was best man. The ushers were Dr. William Freamer of Fall River, Vincent Hoye, Boston and George A., Buckley and Thomas Buckley of this city. After the ceremony a reception took place at the home of the bride's mother. The honeymoon trip is to be by automobile to Niagara Falls. The groom is a graduate of Harvard Medical School. The bride graduated at Trinity College. She belongs to the local Catholic Twentieth Century Club. Dr. and Mrs. McCann will live at 29 Waverly st.

CASHMAN - O'NEILL [Boston MA Globe, 1 November 1904] O'NEILL - CASHMAN; Solemn High Nuptial Mass at Wedding in Manchester, N.H. Manchester N.H. Oct 31 - Miss Katherine Frances Cashman, daughter of John Cashman and Edward Francis O'Neill, son of Michael O'Neill of Fall River, Mass., were married this morning at the Cathedral. A solemn high nuptial mass was sung by the rector, Rev. James H. Brennan. Rev. P.J. Scott was deacon and Rev. Dr. Casey subdeacon. The bride was attended by Aliss Sadie McCann, a classmate at St. Joseph's school, and the groom by his brother M.J. O'Neill Jr. of Fall River. The bride was becomingly gowned in white silk muslin over silk. After the ceremony a wedding party of 50 was entertained at the home of the bride's father, at 32 Church st. Among the guests were Elizabeth and Margaret O'Neill of Fall River and Mrs. Hartley Vaughan, Florence Vaughan and Perley Vaughan of Somerville.

CERKOT – FLANNERY [Fall River MA Herald, Monday Nov. 29, 1943]  FLANNERY – CERKOT;  Miss Anne Cerkot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cerkot of 83 Desmond Avenue, Somerset Centre, and Sergeant James T. Flannery, son of Mr. and Mrs. James S. Flannery of 576 Plymouth Avenue, this city, were married Saturday morning at 8 in St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset.   Rev. Joseph K. Welsh, administrator, officiated.  The attendants were Miss Stasia Cerkot, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, and Clinton B. Andrews of Tiverton, best man.  Following a breakfast at the Howard Johnson Restaurant a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, after which the couple left on a honeymoon. CHADDERTON - NESTOR [Fall River MA Herald, Feb. 1, 1921] CHADDERTON - NESTOR; A pretty wedding was solemnized this morning at 8:30 at St. William's church when Mary Catherine Nestor, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Nestor, 156 Stafford Road, became the bride of James H. Chadderton, son of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Chadderton, of New Haven, Conn. A solemn high nuptial mass was celebrated, Rev. Fr. John T. McKeon, celebrant, Rev. Fr. Henry Staunton, deacon, and James H. Nestor, a student at St. Bernard's Seminary, Rochester, NY and a brother of the bride, was sub-deacon. The altar vases were filled with deep pink carnations and during the mass a quartette comprised of Jennie Edwards, Margaret Nestor, Miles McSweeney, and Henry Munroe rendered music, and at the offertory Miss Edwards rendered "Ave Maria". The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Annie E. Nestor, as maid of honor, and the best man was Joseph Morris, a cousin of the bridegroom. The bride wore an attractive gown of white canton crepe, the skirt being fashioned with tunics of Chantilly lace and the bodice hand embroidered in white silk. Long bell sleeves edged with Chantilly lace completed the costume and her tulle veil was arranged in Russian cap effect, held in place by two bands of seed pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of bride roses with showers of swansonia. The maid of honor wore a gown of dawn colored georgette, waist fashioned in basque effect and the tunics of the skirt hand embroidered in motifs of pink. Her hat was a large model of dawn georgette trimmed with blue beads and tiny rosebuds. She carried a shower bouquet of deep pink carnations. The bride's gift to her attendant was a crescent of sapphires and pearls and the best man received a K. of C. charm. After the ceremony, a turkey wedding breakfast was served to about 100 guests by Mrs. Lawton, after which Mr. and Mrs. Chadderton left for an extended wedding trip. They will reside at 400 Huntington Street, New Haven. Mr. Chadderton is clerical supervisor for the Winchester Arms Co. (Submitted by Laura Sullivan)

CORCORAN - HURLEY [Boston MA Globe, 25 June 1875] HURLEY - CORCORAN --  In Fall River, 22d inst., Mr. William J. Hurley and Miss Mary E. Corcoran.

DILLON - RIGBY [Boston MA Globe, 4 Oct 1922] Whitinsville, Oct. 3 -- George W. Rigby of Fall River and Miss Mary L. Dillon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Dillon, 185 Church st., were married today at St. Patrick's Church. Rev. John P. Phelan officiated. Miss Edna M. Dillon, the bride's sister, and John R. Corbett of Fall River attended the couple. The ushers were Frank M. Woodward and Leo F. Logan of Fall River. The groom's gift to the best man was a fourth-degree K. of C. ring and to the ushers, sterling siler K. of C. card cases. The bride gave her attendant an aquamarine ring. Mr. Rigby is a member of the American Legion and is in charge of the supply division of the Fall River public schools. Mrs. Rigby is a graduate of the local high school and of Bridgewater State Normal School, class of 1912. She was a teacher at the William J. Wiley School of Fall River.

DOHERTY - TEAGUE [Boston MA Globe, 22 Feb 1922] Ex-Service Man Weds Fall River Girl. Fall River, Feb. 21 -- At the Church of the Sacred Heart today, Leverett Gladding Teague, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Teague of Boston, was married to Miss Cecelia Agnes Doherty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Doherty, 572 Locust st. The nuptial mass was celebrated by Rev. John W. McCarthy, P.R. Miss Grace J. Doherty, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, while the best man was Attorney John F. Doherty of Boston, the bride's brother. Mr. and Mrs. Teague left for a wedding trip to Washington and their future home will be in Worcester. The bridegroom is branch claim manager of the American Mutual Liability Insurance Company for Worcester County. During the war he went overseas with Battery D of the 101st Regiment Field Artillery 26th Division.

DOUGHERTY – WALKER [Newport RI Mercury, Saturday 4 Nov 1882] Married. In Tiverton, 29th ult., David Walker to Miss Ellen Dougherty, both of Little Compton.

FLAHERTY – McFARLAND [Newport RI Mercury, Saturday 25 Feb 1882] Married. In this city at St. Mary’s church, 21st inst., Michael Flaherty, of Worcester, to Annie McFarland, of this city.

FLANNERY – LEWIS [Fall River MA Evening News, Wednesday Oct. 7, 1903]  FLANNERY – LEWIS;  Robert Lewis and Miss Ellen Flannery were united in marriage at the rectory of the Immaculate Conception church, Tuesday afternoon at 5 o’clock.  Rev. Cornelius McSweeney performed the ceremony.  Thomas Lewis, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Miss Nora Flannery, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid.  After the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride on Irving street at which only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties were present.  Mr. Lewis is a prominent member of the Joseph H. FLANNERY – LIZOTTE [Fall River MA Herald, Oct. 19, 1914] FLANNERY – LIZOTTE; Miss Laura Lizotte of 2252 Pleasant street and Charles T. Flannery of 125 Irving street were united in marriage this morning at Notre Dame church. The ceremony was performed by Mgr. Prevost. The witnesses were the fathers of the bridal couple, Thomas Flannery and Leander Lizotte. The bride wore a handsome nuptial robe of white crepe de chine. Her bridal veil was of tulle and was caught in cap effect with roses. Her bridal bouquet was of roses. After the ceremony a breakfast was served at the home of the bride. The groom is chief yeoman of U. S. S. Michigan. Mr. Flannery has just returned from Mexican waters and will take up his duties at the training station in Newport on the staff of Lieutenant Frank T. Evans. He claims that the old adage, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” is especially true in his case, for his courtship was carried on by letters while duty carried him to foreign shores and tropical seas. Mr. and Mrs. Flannery left today for New York. Their wedding trip will take in Niagara Falls, where they will visit relatives. On their return they will reside on Second street, Newport. FLANNERY – McFALL [Tarentum PA Valley News Dispatch, Feb. 27, 1924] FLANNERY – McFALL; This morning at 8 o’clock in St. Peters Catholic church, the marriage of Miss Mary Gertrude McFall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. T. McFall, of Second avenue, and George A. Flannery, son of [Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Flannery of Fall River, Mass], was solemnized. Rev. Father H. J. Duval read the service. The bride wore a rust colored traveling suit, with hat to match, and her flowers were a corsage of white rosebuds and sweetpeas. Her sister, Miss Margaret McFall, as bridesmaid, appeared in a black dress and hat and wore a corsage of pink roses and sweetpeas. George Hause, of Freeport, acted as the groom’s best man. A dinner of thirty covers served at noon to the immediate relatives, in the home of the bride’s parents supplemented the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Flannery will leave this evening on an extended wedding trip to include New York, Niagara Falls, Providence, R.I.; Fall River and Boston, Mass.; and upon their return will reside in Tarentum. Mrs. Flannery has been employed as a toll operator for the Bell Telephone Company at the New Kensington exchange for the past several years. (Submitted by Jim Flannery)

FOGWELL - MULVENY [Boston MA Globe, 6 Aug 1915] Fall River, Aug 5 -- Miss Gladys Sybil Fogwell was married this afternoon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Fogwell, to Representative Frank Mulveny of the 11th Bristol District by Rev. Otis O. Wright of Swansea. The couple were attended by Miss Bertha E. Fogwell and Arthur Mulveny. The bride was attired in white crepe de meteor, trimmed with chantilly lace. A reception followed and after a trip to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Mr. and Mrs. Mulveny will live at 297 Barnaby St.

GAGNE - McGUIRE [Fall River MA Daily Globe, Monday 7 August 1911] Gagne - McGuire; John B. Gagne of 1955 North Main street and Miss Ellen G. McGuire were united in marriage this morning at 7 o'clock at St. Joseph's church by Rev. Fr. Boylan, pastor. The bride was attended by Miss Laura Empleton, while the best man was Oscar Banville of Providence. A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride, 1457 North Main street, where about 50 guests were received. The bride presented the bridesmaid with a string of gold beads, while the groom's gift to the groomsman was a signet ring. Mr. and Mrs. Gagne will spend their honeymoon in Providence, New York and Washington, D.C. They will reside at 1904 North Main street where their new home has been rendered most attractive by the generous gifts of their friends.

HARRINGTON - HARRINGTON [Boston MA Globe, 20 June 1918] Providence, June 19 -- Miss Katherine V. Harrington, sister of Rev. James P. Harrington, and James J. Harrington of the Fall River News were married this afternoon at St. Agnes' rectory, this city by Fr. Harrington. Miss Marie O'Rourke of Washington was bridesmaid, and Lieut. Michael Regan of Fall River was best man. After a short trip Mr. and Mrs. Harrington will live on Broadway, Fall River.

HATTEN - SHEA [Boston MA Globe, 19 June 1907] Woonsocket, R.I., June 18 -- There were two fashionable weddings here today. At St. Charles' Church, George H. Hatten of Attleboro was married to Miss Emma Shea, in the presence of a large gathering, by Rev. J.T. Winn, acting pastor, who celebrated a nuptial mass. The best man was Louis C. Balster of Attleboro, and the bridesmaid was Miss Mamie Dunn. Mr. and Mrs. Hatten will reside at Attleboro after a wedding trip...

KENNEDY - DEMPSEY [Boston MA Globe, 7 June 1910] KENNEDY - DEMPSEY; Brockton Theatrical Man Marries Fall River Woman. Fall River, June 6 -- Hugh J. Kennedy of Brockton and Miss Susan Dempsey were married this morning at the Sacred Heart Church by Rev. Fr. McKeon. MR. Kennedy us a well-known theatrical man of Brockton. The attendants were Richard F. Norton and Miss Mary McGee. A reception followed at the home of the bride, 126 Orange st. Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy after spending their honeymoon at Buzzard's Bay, will reside in Brockton.

LOWNEY - MURRAY [Fall River MA Daily Globe, Monday 7 August 1911] Lowney - Murray; Sylvester F. Lowney and Mary C. Murray were married this morning at 7 o'clock in St. William's church. Rev. Father Noon performed the ceremony. James Sullivan was best man and the bridesmaid was Catherine Sullivan. The bride wore a beautiful white satin dress with blue trimming, and a picture hat with white willow plumes. The bridesmaid wore a white batiste dress and a large black picture hat with white plumes. After the ceremony they had breakfast at the home of the bride on the corner of Plymouth avenue and Peckham street. They will leave for Boston today, where they will spend two weeks. Upon their return, they will reside on Peckham street. The wedding presents were numerous and beautiful.

T. McFall, of Second avenue, and George A. Flannery, son of [Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Flannery of Fall River, Mass], was solemnized. Rev. Father H. J. Duval read the service. The bride wore a rust colored traveling suit, with hat to match, and her flowers were a corsage of white rosebuds and sweetpeas. Her sister, Miss Margaret McFall, as bridesmaid, appeared in a black dress and hat and wore a corsage of pink roses and sweetpeas. George Hause, of Freeport, acted as the groom’s best man. A dinner of thirty covers served at noon to the immediate relatives, in the home of the bride’s parents supplemented the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Flannery will leave this evening on an extended wedding trip to include New York, Niagara Falls, Providence, R.I.; Fall River and Boston, Mass.; and upon their return will reside in Tarentum. Father Noon performed the ceremony. James Sullivan was best man and the bridesmaid was Catherine Sullivan. The bride wore a beautiful white satin dress with blue trimming, and a picture hat with white willow plumes. The bridesmaid wore a white batiste dress and a large black picture hat with white plumes. After the ceremony they had breakfast at the home of the bride on the corner of Plymouth avenue and Peckham street. They will leave for Boston today, where they will spend two weeks. Upon their return, they will reside on Peckham street. The wedding presents were numerous and beautiful.

NESTOR - CHADDERTON [Fall River MA Herald, Feb. 1, 1921] CHADDERTON - NESTOR; A pretty wedding was solemnized this morning at 8:30 at St. William's church when Mary Catherine Nestor, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Nestor, 156 Stafford Road, became the bride of James H. Chadderton, son of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Chadderton, of New Haven, Conn. A solemn high nuptial mass was celebrated, Rev. Fr. John T. McKeon, celebrant, Rev. Fr. Henry Staunton, deacon, and James H. Nestor, a student at St. Bernard's Seminary, Rochester, NY and a brother of the bride, was sub-deacon. The altar vases were filled with deep pink carnations and during the mass a quartette comprised of Jennie Edwards, Margaret Nestor, Miles McSweeney, and Henry Munroe rendered music, and at the offertory Miss Edwards rendered "Ave Maria". The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Annie E. Nestor, as maid of honor, and the best man was Joseph Morris, a cousin of the bridegroom. The bride wore an attractive gown of white canton crepe, the skirt being fashioned with tunics of Chantilly lace and the bodice hand embroidered in white silk. Long bell sleeves edged with Chantilly lace completed the costume and her tulle veil was arranged in Russian cap effect, held in place by two bands of seed pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of bride roses with showers of swansonia. The maid of honor wore a gown of dawn colored georgette, waist fashioned in basque effect and the tunics of the skirt hand embroidered in motifs of pink. Her hat was a large model of dawn georgette trimmed with blue beads and tiny rosebuds. She carried a shower bouquet of deep pink carnations. The bride's gift to her attendant was a crescent of sapphires and pearls and the best man received a K. of C. charm. After the ceremony, a turkey wedding breakfast was served to about 100 guests by Mrs. Lawton, after which Mr. and Mrs. Chadderton left for an extended wedding trip.
