Family tradition says he took his wife to Canada and was a
British Grenadier during the French War. After being discharged
he settled on Cheat River near his brothers. Sep 10 1806 deeded
one acre of his land to the trustees of the Baptist church whose
meeting house was next to his land. Estate settled 1811 in
Monongalia Co WV. His children moved to IN on the Wabash River

A orphan who came to America with an uncle. Went to Lancaster Co
PA. Family tradition says that one day in PA while crossing a river
his horse drowned and that he felt so bad he told God if He would
forgive him for stopping in PA, he'd go on to VA which he did in
1770, and settled down in Union district of Monongalia Co WV where
it is recorded he bought large land tracts. Though birth location
of his last six children are given as Uniontown PA by one source,
it could be Union Dist., Monongalia Co
