before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War and went to the vicinity
[Old Tryon Co., NC. and 96th District, SC.]
that later to be known as Spartanburg Co.,

In 1769, It was part of the large "Ninty-Six" District and in 1785 the Old
Ninty-Six District was broken up to Six smaller Districts: Abbeville,
Edgefield, Laurens, Newberry, SPARTANBURG, and Union (Formed 1798) Districts.
Present-day Cherokee County was formed in 1897 from the upper North East
section of Spartanburg Co.
Present day York County, was formed in 1785 form the larger Camden & Pickney
Districts.

On Feb. 02, 1799, a record shows Brother SAMUEL, 2 SARRATT, Sr.,
age 47 bought 80 acres, which later is known as his favorite "Fishing Spot",
which the Plat indicates "Sarrat Creek." The ARNOLD should be "ARENDELL" ..prs
"To SAMUEL SARRAT, 80 acres of land in the Pinckney District,
Spartanburg Co., SC. lying chiefly in on the South side of the Broad
River, at the mouth of "Mikes Creek" including the island a little
above the said "Mikes Creek"; and also part of McLawrins Island;
bounded by said SAMUEL SARRAT'S land, and ARNOLD'S land; on the
other sides by the river."
