O. J. ''Chuck'' Toland, 70, of Nicoma Park, passed through the valley into eternal life on Dec. 25, 1990. Born Jan. 3, 1920, in Lore City, Ohio, and came to the Nicoma Park area in 1949. He was self employed and in sales most of his life. Former mayor of Nicoma Park in the 1970's, was a past Worthy Patron of Jordan, Chapter 501, Order of the Eastern Star, 32nd Degree Mason, and a Boy Scout leader. US Navy Veteran World War II. Recently he received the 1990 Man of the Year Award from Nicoma Park. O. J., also known as Tony, was a self made man of great integrity and pride.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home; four sons, Jerrold Rodger, of Warr Acres, twins, Donald Lee, of Mustang, and Ronald Lee Toland , of Norman, and Joe King, of Phoenix, AZ; four daughters, Judythe Mae Branson, of OKC, Gayle King, of Dayton, OH, Sherry King, of Norman, and Suzanne King, of Nicoma Park; 23 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Douglass; and his mother, Edie Adams, both of Nicoma Park.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Bunny, in 1979. He was loved by all of his extended family, and had made peace with his children and his Lord. He will be greatly missed. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 1990, at the Bill Eisenhour NE Chapel, with burial at Arlington Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Order of Rare Disease, or organization of your choice.
