Mt. Pleasant Cemetery or Franklin
Township Cemetery
St. Rt. 222, Franklin Township
N 38˚ 49.396 W084˚
06.083 within 20ft.
Directions:
Take St. Rt. 133 out of Felicity. Turn
right onto St. Rt. 222. About one
block from intersection on right is a forked gravel drive.
The fork to the left is the
H. Stewart Gregg Tree Farm. (This lane is gated) the lane to
the right up a hill is the
one you should take. Parking is not good, so be so careful if
you go during wet weather
you could get stuck turning around.
Pictures taken by Pamela Smith, CCGS volunteer in
the fall of
2009. I enjoyed
spending the fall in this cemetery. The cemetery is in good
shape. Found a pile
of stones buried in the back right of the old section along the fence
line. I was
able to salvage a few but I think there is a lot more buried
here. The oldest death
I found in the cemetery was Emma Ellis, died Jan 21, 1838, aged 11
days. I
did probe for many hours but did not find many stones that were
missing. Also,
please take note that Mr. H. Stewart Gregg made the cemetery sign.
Stones I could not locate that were previously recorded:
Adams, Alice
Barritt, Joseph U.
Croswell, Loren
Frambes, Floss
Frambes, Edward
Grout, Eliza J.
Knowles, Randolph A.
Lanham, Harvey L.
Morris, Nancy
Utter, James W.
Vanbriggle, Margaret (she may be on the side of parents- I may have
missed this)
