** Miss Margaret SUTHERLAND of North Attleboro is visiting relatives in town.

WEDDING - HARVEY - MYATT
A very pretty but unostentatious wedding occurred at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel MYATT, when Rev. G.R. KYLE united in marriage their daughter, Ethel Georgia to Russell Bancroft HARVEY of Grand Manan.
Promptly at four o’clock to the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march the bride and groom took their place on the lawn, under an arch, artistically arranged of ferns and daisies.
The bride was becomingly attired in a suit of navy blue serge with hat to suit to correspond and carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses and pink carnations. After the ceremony a well appointed lunch was served.
Amid showers of confetti and hearty congratulations, the happy couple motored to Oxford Jct., boarding the train for St. John where they will spend a brief honeymoon before leaving for their future home at Grand Manan, N.B.

WEDDING - COLDWELL - CLARKE
Joggins, N.S. Aug 7th
A very pretty wedding was celebrated here yesterday afternoon, when Miss Helen Louise CLARKE, eldest daughter of Mayor D.J. CLARKE was united in marriage to Lewis Henry COLDWELL of Hantsport, N.S. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride’s parents by the Rev. D.A. STEELE, D.D., of Amherst in the presence of the immediate relatives and friends of the contracting parties. The bride was very becomingly gowned in brown silk and carried a magnificent bouquet of bridal roses.
At the close of the ceremony the guests about 45 in number were entertained to a dainty wedding luncheon.
The bride was the recipient of many beautiful and useful gifts of silver, cut glass, linen, etc.

OBIT - ALEXANDER SUTHERLAND
This well-known and respected citizen passed away at his residence on Little River Road on Monday, August 4th, aged 76 years. He was born at Earltown and was the last member of a family of five. In 1870 he married Joanna McBAIN of the same place, there being no family. Mrs. CA. BAIRD of Dartmouth was adopted as a daughter. They lived at Truro for a number of years, later at Stellarton and removed to Oxford in May 1916.
The funeral service was conducted at his late home on Wednesday by Rev. G.K. KYLE, who spoke from the 91st Psalm. Members of Mystic Tie Lodge of Oddfellows attended in a body and escorted the remains to the afternoon train and were taken to River John for interment n the family lot. Rev. Mr. McINNES officiated at the grave.
The floral offerings included 3 links from Phoenix Lodge of Oddfellows of Truro, of which deceased was a member, a pillow from Mr. & Mrs. C.A. BAIRD and family.
Mr. SUTHERLAND was in religion a member of the Presbyterian Church and a Conservative.

OBIT - Mrs. HARRY FISHER
As referred to previously in these columns, Mrs. FISHER passed away at the home of Mrs. Charles CASEY, Carrington, Wednesday, Aug 6th, aged 21 years from complications of appendicitis operation, after an illness of a few hours. She leaves a husband and one daughter, Violet of 6 ears and parents, Mr. & Mrs. S.G. BLACK and sisters and brothers to mourn their loss.
The funeral was held at the home of her parents, Rev. Mr. KYLE officiating, giving a consoling address from gospel of St. Mark, 14th chapter, 9th verse, “She hath done what she could”.
Beautiful floral offerings attested to the love and esteem in which she was held by relatives and friends.

MARRIED
**At Providence, R.I. at the Baptist parsonage, By Rev. Mr. VIE on July 23rd, W.F. GRANT to Miss Edna MYATT of Oxford. The bride is visiting her parents, Mr. & Mrs. A.H. MYATT.

** Mrs. Burton ISENOR and 3 children of New York are visiting the formers brother in law, Private Wilfred ISENOR and Mrs. ISENOR here.

MARRIED
At Oxford on Aug 20th, by Rev. G.R. KYLE, Conn Tanner FORRESTER, formerly of Conns Mills, now living in Truro, to Miss Mary Elizabeth WEATHERHEAD of Oxford.

WEDDING - PEEL - McDERMID
One of prettiest and most interesting weddings of the season was solemnized yesterday afternoon in St. Andrew’s Church when Miss Jean McDERMID, daughter of Mr. John McDERMID, East River Road became the bride of Mr. Clarence PEEL of Oxford. The ceremony was performed by he Rev. J.A. RAMSAY.
Both bride and groom were unattended. The bride who was given in marriage by her father looked charming in a traveling costume of sand colored serge with ht to match and carried a bouquet of cream roses. As the party entered the church, Mrs. W.J. GRAHAM, organist of St. Andrew’s Church rendered the Bridal Chorus from Lohengita and as they left she played Mendelssohn’s Wedding March with masterly interpresation and breath of expression. Mr. Rod C. McLEOD, New Glasgow’s “favorite” rendered the beautiful sole “Oh Promise Me” in excellent voice.
The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion by members of the choir and friends of the bride. After the ceremony the happy couple motored from the church to the station and left by the afternoon express on a short wedding tour.
The bride is one of New Glasgow’s most popular young ladies and a valued member of St. Andrew’s Choir. The happy couple will have the best wishes of a host of friends, who will wish them many ears of happiness and prosperity in their wedded life.

** Mrs. Charles POLLARD, Methuen, Mass who has been here visiting her mother, Mrs. George BLACK, returned to her home on Saturday last. While here Mrs. POLLARD visited in Truro and Halifax.

** Mr. W.R. SLADE who recently made a visit to relatives here has returned to the United States and is now located in Salem, Oregon.

DIED
At Southampton, on Sunday July 27th, Mrs. Leslie RECTOR, aged 24 years.

Eight year old, Wentworth HAMWRIGHT, a son of Wm. HAMWRIGHT was drowned on Friday last in Blair’s Lake, near Amherst. The body was recovered on Monday evening.

OBIT - Mrs. ALBERT H. TREFRY
Amherst, N.S. Aug 14th.
The many friends of Mrs. A.H. TREFRY, formerly Miss Bessie SPENCER, youngest daughter of Mr. E. SPENCER of Parrsboro will learn with the deepest regret of her death, which occurred at her home in Halifax on Saturday morning, Aug 9th after a very brief illness.
The late Mrs. TREFRY had not enjoyed good health for the past few years having suffered from goiter, but during a visit to Parrsboro a few weeks ago she seemed much improved and her friends were hopeful of her ultimate recovery.
The deceased was a young woman of charming personality, was very popular in her hometown as well as in Halifax, where she resided for the past 21 years. She was twice married. Her first husband was Charles E. HUGGINS, a prominent Halifax druggist. About 3 years ago she married Albert H. TREFRY of Yarmouth, who survives her.
