My great-grandfather, William Harrison DEARING, was born 10 Jan
1827 and according to some census returns his birthplace was KY. I believe
it very likely it was in Wayne Co. based on the following:
-
A Reuben DEARING died in Wayne Co, leaving a widow, Anne.
-
Anne and Reuben had at least eight children:
-
Malinda who m. Joseph BOND
-
John who m. Sally MILLER
-
Jane who m. Thomas MILSAPS
-
Mary (Polly) who m. Moses SALLE
-
Cynthia who m. George W. WALLEE
-
Jeremiah who m. Mahala BRUTON
-
Martha (Patsy) who m. Thomas HURT
-
Aaron who m. Mary (Polly) WINN 21 Aug 1823
-
Aaron and Polly WINN DEARING had a daughter, Louisa, who m. John
KOGER.
-
Louisa and John had:
-
Malinda
-
George Washington
-
Dorcas Clementine
-
Virgil Stuart
-
Thomas Jefferson
-
John Henry
-
Lidia Victory
-
Elijah
-
Francis Marion
I believe it is quite likely Aaron and Polly were also the parents of my
William Harrison, although I have no proof, and it might be he is a cousin
of Louisa.
However, Willaim Harrison DEARING, my ancestor, married Isabelle
STARMER20
Jan 1852. Note the similarity of the names of their children and those
of Louisa:
-
Vianer Clementine
-
Aaron (their first born son)
-
George Francis
-
Adam Spenceer
-
Mary Ann (Sarah)
-
Jacob Teener
-
James Virgil
-
Eliza Hester (my grandmother)
-
Willa Isabelle
In the 1880 Buchanan Co., MO census, both William Harrison KOGER
and William Harrison DEARING are found as close neighbors. In addition,
after Isabelle's death, my grandmother and Willa Isabelle were reared by
their aunt, Hester (Hettie) Jane STARMER, who was married to John
KOGER,
Jr.
I will be grateful for any help and will gladly reciprocate with any
information I might have that would be useful.

I am seeking any information on the family and/or decendants of Elisha
and Alice "GLASCOCK" THOMAS.
-
Elisha and Alice were from Fauquire County, VA.
-
He served in the Rev. War and received land grant for service in KY.
-
Elisha died 12/25/1834 in Wayne Co, KY.
-
He had a large family and many decendants.
-
His son Evan married Jane GREEN who was reported in some family
notes to have been the neice of Gen. Nathaniel GREENE.
-
Gen. GREENE's scabard was passed down through the family.
-
My father's aunt donated it to a museum in the early 1960's.
-
According to the family bible, Jane's father was George.
-
Evan and Jane had a son John Preston THOMAS who married Amanda Melvina
PAYNE
in 1848.
-
After the Civil War, he moved his family to Texas.
-
All of the THOMAS family appears to have remained in Wayne Co.,
KY or area until at least the close of the Civil War.
I have a lot of family connections on this line and would like to exchange
any information on any of this family. Also am trying to prove Elisha's
parent's immigrating from Wales and briefly settling in Chester Co. PA,
before moving to Fauquire/Loudoun/Warren County area of Virginia.
Another interesting note: It appears that there may have been
a gentleman "impersonating" Elisha that lived in Mercer Co., KY. He died
shortly before my Elisha and is buried in a Shaker Cemetary there. It seems
he may have been claiming to be Elisha to secure his Rev. War Pension.
Some Pension papers of my Elisha indicate some confusion over his Pension
suddenly being halted. Eventually, after his death, Alice was able to secure
her Pension. This is all conjecture based on the information I have and
the "professional" possibilities suggested by more highly skilled researchers.
It is an interesting "mystery"...
