Thomas Waties

In the name of God Amen, I, THOMAS WATIES of the parish of Prince George in Craven County South Carolina being of sound mind & memory do therefore make and appoint this my last Will and Testament.

Imprimus  My soul I surrender into the hands of Almighty God, my body I recommend to the earth and my temporal estate I will & dispose of as follows. 

    I will and direct that all my just debts be paid & discharged as soon as conveniently may be by the executors hereafter named of this my last Will and Testament, and in order thereto, I hereby authorize & impower my said executors to sell the whole or any part or parcel of my estate real & personal.

    I also will & bequeath unto my beloved wife ANN, to my beloved sons, WILLIAM, THOMAS & JOHN and to my beloved daughter ANN, the residue & remainder of my estate real & personal to be divided between them in equal shares and proportions in manner & form following that is to say, one fifth part to my beloved wife for her use and benefit during her natural life, and after her death to be equally divided between my children WILLIAM, THOMAS, JOHN and ANN or the survivor of them, one other one fifth part of my said estate real & personal, I bequeath to my son WILLIAM for his & his heirs for ever, to be paid him at the age of twenty-one years, one other fifth part I bequeath to my son THOMAS for him & his heirs for ever to be paid him at the age of twenty-one years, one other fifth part to my son JOHN for him & his heirs for ever to be paid him at the age of twenty-one years, and one other fifth part to my daughter ANN for her & her heirs for ever to be paid her at the age of twenty-one years or day of marriage, which shall first happen.   And in case any or either of them my said sons WILLIAM, THOMAS & JOHN shall die before they arrive to the age of twenty-one years, or in case my daughter ANN shall die before she arrive at the age of twenty-one years or marriage, then it is my will & intention that their shares or proportions of my estate shall be equally divided amongst the surviving of them my aforesaid children, WILLIAM, THOMAS, JOHN, and ANN, and I do declare this to be my last Will and Testament, and I do revoke & disallow all other Wills or Testaments heretofore made by me and lastly I do nominate, constitute & appoint my beloved wife ANN WATIES to be executrix and my beloved brothers-in-law WILLIAM ALSTON SENIOR, JOSEPH ALSTON and JOHN ALSTON executors of this my last Will and Testament, In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand & seal this twenty-sixth day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty-two.
