St Anthony in Roseland - Settlement Order



Settlement Order for Ann Roberts, 6th March 1794

Cornwall. To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St Just in Roseland in the said County and to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St Anthony in Roseland in the said County and to each and every of them.
 
Upon the complaint of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St Just in Roseland aforesaid, in the said County unto Us, whose names are hereunto set, and seals affixed being two of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County and one of us the Quorum, That
 
Ann Roberts singlewoman
 
hath come to inhabit in the said Parish of St Just in Roseland not having gained a legal settlement there; nor produced and Certificate owning her to be settled elsewhere; and the said Ann Roberts
 
is likely to be chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Just in Roseland We the said Justices upon due proof thereof, as well as upon examination of the said Ann Roberts upon oath, as otherwise, and likewise upon due consideration had of the premises, do adjudge the same to be true; and We do likewise adjudge that the lawful settlement of the said Ann Roberts
 
is in the said Parish of Saint Anthony in Roseland in the said County. We do therefore require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Just in Roseland or some or one of you, to convey the said Ann Roberts
 
from and out of your said parish of Saint Just in Roseland to the said parish of Saint Anthony in Roseland and her to deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some or one of them, together with this our Order, or a true Copy thereof, at the same time shewing them the Original; and We do also hereby require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Saint Anthony in Roseland to receive and provide for her as an inhabitant of your Parish.
 
Given under our hands and seals, the sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four.
