I am seeking information on SATSA VANN, b. 1777 SPRING PLACE, MURRY
COUNTY GA, d. 1831 AL. allegedly the daughter of JOHN JOSEPH VANN and
MARY CHRISTINA (WAH-LI). She married THOMAS B. CURRY in AL.
Anyone have any real proof as to her parentage.
Wayne
Smith. Looking for Family Lineage and information of
William (Wm) H. SMITH born ca 1846 in Tunnel Hill Georgia. Could have
contacts of other Smith’s in the Dalton, Murray Co. Whitfield Co.
areas. Julius Braden (Blink) Smith is my Grandfather (born in Indian
Territory Oklahoma 1885) and William H. is my Great Grandfather.
The only additional information is that the Smith Lineage (there are
many) derived in and around Coweta Co., Georgia NW of Atlanta.
Ross Smith.
The area that became Dade co Ga was originally in Murray co Ga and that
area then became Walker co Ga when Walker co Ga was formed in 1833 and
then Dade co Ga was formed in 1837 so I assume when the state of
Georgia conducted the 1832 Georgia Cherokee Lottery in 1832 the land
lots won in what would later become Dade co Ga were located in Murray
co Ga. Is that correct? My question is this: David Smith died in
1849 in Paulding co Ga although he and his family lived in Newton co
Ga. His estate records showed he owned land in Dade co Ga in section 4
district 19 land lot 11. I assumed he won the land in the 1832 Ga land
lottery but I checked a list of fortunate drawers and a John Simmons
living in Pike co Ga won that land lot so David Smith must have bought
the land from John Simmons or since John Simmons died in 1844 in Pike
co Ga David Smith might have bought the land from the estate of John
Simmons or possibly John Simmons never claimed the land he won so David
Smith bought the land from the state of Georgia. I am trying to find
the deed where David Smith bought the land. Would it be in Murray co or
Walker co or Dade co Ga. Thanks.

I am looking for information on my grandmother's father, a Mr. JONES.
My grandmother's name was Mary Ellisada (sp?) Jones and she was born
about 1867-68 in either Murray or Gilmer county, GA. Her mother was
Nancy THOMAS (maiden name). On the 1880 Murray County census, Mary
Jones is listed as age 12 and the stepdaughter of Benjamin PARKS,
mother Nancy Parks. Mary later took the name Parks. She married David
Monroe PASS in 1886. I am particularly interested in learning if my
grandmother had any Cherokee ancestry.
