Looking for any information regarding a Barney D. LOUGHRIDGE. He was
listed
in a Murray County 1880 US Census. He was 6 years old at that time. His
father was Benjamin LOUGHRIDGE and his mother was Celestine ALLEN
LOUGHRIDGE.
He had one brother, Benjamin and 1 sister Cornelia. I have reason to
believe
that he could be my great-grandfather. It is believed that he left
Murray
County as a young man. I would like information regarding where he
might
have settled. Also anyone having information regarding his connection
to
Gertie KEITH.

DOVER/MARTIN/CAMPBELL. Looking for ANY info for the above families who
first came to Murray County, Georgia 1840-1850. Morgan DOVER appears
1840
census. Samuel DOVER appears by 1850 census. Some of the MARTIN
families
in Murray County came from York, SC by 1848. Samuel DOVER was married
to
Susan CAMPBELL. She was apparently first married to a YOUNGBLOOD and
had
one son named Hardaway YOUNGBLOOD who also went by Hardaway DOVER.
Suspect
that Samuel DOVER may have been in Tennessee BEFORE arriving in Murray

I need information on my GGGGF, Thomas SLAY Jr., submitted a "change
of address" to his $50/yr. Rev. War pension in Sept. 1840 noting that
he had moved to Murray Co. from DeKalb Co., GA 8 mos. earlier. He
probably
is the 80-90 year old male in the 1840 US Census living with his
daughter,
Ann Slay (Jordan) Webb in Murray (still Murray) Co., GA. Jordan Webb
also
appears in Murray Co. in the 1850 US Censue but there is no older male
in his household (Thomas Slay Jr. was probably dead then). We lost
track
of the Jordan Webb family in the 1860 US Census having tried CD ROM
data
etc. for the South trying to locate him or his known children. In the
1832
GA Land Lottery, Jordan Webb of DeKalb won Lot 33 of the 2nd Section of
the 25th District in what was and still is Murray Co. My rough plotting
of this lot on a Murray Co. GA State Hwy. County Map puts this lot
between
Ramhurst/Ramsey on US Hwy 411/ GA Hwy 61 and the National Forest. The
lot
appears to straddle Murray Co., Mountain Rd., number 301. I've done all
the fireside research I can think of from NJ. Do you have any
suggestions
as to what I should try next to locate any tombstone (I doubt if there
is one), obituary, etc. for Thomas Slay Jr.? Any help would be super!

In 1860 G. E. SMEDLEY, age 63, is found on 1850 census in Washington
Co.
Ark.. Living with him are two daughters, R.E., age 16 (this is Ruth E.)
and P. age 14 (this is Polly).
On the 1850 census of Murray Co. Ga. there is a Green SMEDLEY, age 40 with wife Sarah, age 30. They have 5 children, John, age 11, Wm. 9, Henry, 7, Thomas 4, and George W., 3 mo.
Family tradition is that Ruth E. SMEDLEY was born in covered wagon en route from Ga. to Arkansas, Also that Green's wife was Mary HUTCHERSON.
Living next door as shown on 1850 Murray Co. census are two HUTCHERSON, Elias and Mary and John and Sarah.
Ruth E. SMEDLEY married Wm. MILLER who are my great grandparents. Would like to hear from anyone connected with these families of SMEDLEY AND HUTCHERSON. This family settled in northwestern Arkansas in Washington Co.
