89. Edward Brotherton was born on 7 Sep 1858 in Rossie, St. Lawrence, NY. "Edwin", age 2, in 1860 census. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, NY. Page 385A, E. Brotherton, age 21, servant in family of Marvin and Eudocia Randall. He died on 16 Jul 1933 in Champion, Jefferson, NY. His obituary appeared on 17 Jul 1933 in Watertown Daily Times, as follows: "Man, 80, Dies Near Carthage. Carthage, July 17. -- Edward Brotherton, 80, for many years a resident of the village of Barnes Corners, died at the home of his brother, Alvin, on the Martin street road about 8 p.m. Sunday. He had been in failing health for the past two years, his death resulting from heart failure.
"He was born in the village of Rossie, a son of the late Nathan Brotherton. He was married to Etta Gould, from whom he was later divorced.
"Surviving besides his brother are one son, Charles Brotherton, and one daughter, Mrs. Claude Weston, both of Watertown.
"Funeral services will be held from the Brotherton home on Martin street road Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Alexander Scott, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Great Bend, will officiate. Interment will be made at the Great Bend cemetery." He was buried in Great Bend cemetery, Great Bend, Jefferson, NY.
