Amanda Goodman

CHILLICOTHE CONSTITUTION – TRIBUNE – 05-01-1984

Mrs. Amanda Ellen Goodman, 78, died Monday evening at her home at 903 Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of the Lindley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Tole cemetery, south of Trenton. The body will lie in state after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Goodman was born Sept. 8, 1905, in West Plains, daughter of Edward and Della Tole Whitworth. She married George W. Goodman Sept. 28, 1920, and they spent all their married lives in the Chillicothe community. Mr. Goodman preceded her in death in 1962.

Surviving are son, Wesley D. Goodman, Trimble; five daughters, Maxine Sportsman, Rothville; Rosalee Pinkston, Independence; Betty McClure, Kansas City; Elaine Samm, Macon, and Shirley Pollock, rural Chillicothe; brother, Homer Whitworth, Excelsior Springs; sister, Alice Schooler, Atchison, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.

Funeral services for Amanda Ellen Goodman were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lindley Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Palmer officiating. Taped selections were “Nearer my God to Thee” and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus”. Casketbearers were Dan McClure, Mark and Todd Samm, Bill Sorenson, Chris Chibester and Tom Smith. Burial was in Tolle cemetery near Trenton.
