Dwight L. Quillman 76, Oblong, IL. died Thursday April 12, 2001 at his residence following an apparent heart attack. He was born November 9, 1924 in Sesser, IL., as was the son of Valley Quillman & Opal Wingo. On March 17, 1988 he married Dorothy (Waggoner) Holmes in Terre Haute, IN. Dwight was a coal miner and for several years as a truck driver for National Cartage. He was a 21 year Veteran of the United States Air Force and he also served in W.W.II. He was a member of Seed Chapel Church rural Oblong, Oblong American Legion Post #219, Life member of Cox V.F.W.Post #4753 Sesser, IL. His hobbies included small engine and mower repair.

Dwight is survived by his wife Dorothy; Grandchildren Sarah & John Birkofer, Cindy & Scott Williamson and Jeff Monroney; 5 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters & Son-In-Law Ruth Ann King and Sharon & Gary Manis; Step Daughter Marsha Holmes; and several nieces and nephews. Dwight is preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Sisters Leona Thompson & Joan Clinton; 1 Nephew Alan Manis; Step Son Arthur Holmes.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Sesser, IL with military rites conducted by combined units of Cox V.F.W. Post 4753 and Bates American Legion Post #560, both of Sesser, IL.
