Ada Newton, 77, Robinson, passed away at 9:36 a.m. Sunday February 25, 2007, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. Born in Crawford County, on April 5, 1929, she was the daughter of George Lyman Melton and Emma Jane (Harris) Melton.

She worked for Victor Dana in Robinson and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Palestine. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and stamp collecting.

In 1949 she married Orville "Bud" Daugherty, who preceded her in death in 1977; on April 13, 1978 she married Teddie L. "Ted" Newton, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1997. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, George, Lloyd & Elmer Melton; five sisters, Rachel Garrard, Cora Littlejohn, Della Waldrop, Dolly Bryant and a infant sister, Susie Melton.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Cindy Daugherty; one daughter and son-in-law, Alice & Bob Reed; one step son, Teddie L. Newton Jr.; two step daughters and sons-in-law, Kathie & Kyle Gullett and Terrie & Larry Fulk; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Lyman "Bud" Melton; two sisters, Gladys Coatney and Mary Melton; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial in Harmony Cemetery, Bellair, IL.
