Charles E. Earleywine, 80 of Palestine, Il, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004 at his home after an extended illness. He was born November 17, 1923 in Palestine the son of Charles E. Earleywine and Lula Van Horn Earleywine.

He was a Conductor on the Illinois Central Railroad, retiring in 1986 after 42 years of service. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Hutsonville American Legion Post #742, a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, and a member of the Palestine First Christian Church.

He married Coleen Dolan November 28, 1973 and she survives. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Greta and Al Bennett; his two brothers and sister-in-law, Ted and Marcella Earleywine, Hutsonville, and Van Earleywine, Robinson; 3 sisters-in-law, Winnie Earleywine, Springfield and Betty Earleywine, Beech Grove, IN, and Phyllis Richman, Champaign; his brother-in-laws, Morgan Newlin, rural Hutsonville and Chuck Dolan, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Zola Earleywine, Iris Newlin, Peg Whipkey, and Doris Newlin; and 2 brothers, Neal and Aubry Earleywine.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 26th at the Palestine Cemetery. Rev. James Delaney III is in charge of services. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Academic Foundation. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
