Helen E. Cook 82 Oblong died Sunday November 11, 2001 at Crawford Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Helen was born March 15, 1919 in Charleston, Illinois and was the daughter of Joseph Lippincott and Myrtle (Walters) Lippincott.

In 1940 she married 1st Lt. Wilber F. Parsons who died in 1944. On December 31, 1949 she married Thomas N. "Tom" Cook. Helen was active in church groups, assisted with the Oblong Food Pantry, Clothing Center and the C & G Club of Oblong. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Oblong. She and her husband Tom owned and operated the Cottage Restaurant in Oblong. Helen was also employed for many years as a Community worker for Southeastern Illinois Mental Health Center, Oblong news reporter for the Robinson Daily News and was an Oblong Township Assessor.

Helen is survived by her husband Tom; 3 daughters and sons-in-laws Ronald & Janet Parsons Van Winkle, Shirley & Terry Seamon and Cindy Turner; 3 grandchildren Sabrina Seamon and Thomas & Jesse Turner.

She wass preceded in death by her first husband, 1 son John N. Cook (January 7, 1995) and 1 sister Ruth A. Keran in 1994.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
