Carolyn June "Granny" Alderson, 70 of Palestine, IL, died at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005. She was born September 8, 1934 in Linton, IN, the daughter of Joseph Sims and Bertha Gillette Sims. She was a cook for years in local restaurants in Crawford County. She owned and operated the B & B Restaurant in Palestine, cooked at the Elks Club in Robinson, and had cooked at the Village Inn in Palestine for the past 20 years. She was a member of the Palestine Eagles Lodge Auxillary and was Past President of that organization. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, played cards and bingo, made "Granny's Home Made Pies", and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carolyn married Jack Alderson June 27, 1952 and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1998. She was also preceded by her parents; her sisters, Marie Bush and Cora Jones; and 3 brothers, Clovis, Jesse, and Roy Sims.

She is survived by 2 sons and her daughter-in-law, Ricky Ray and Cathy Alderson, rural Palestine, and Joe Alderson, Palestine; 2 grandchildren, Matt and his wife Kristen Alderson, Robinson, Jamie and her husband Cory McDaniel, Palestine; 3 great grandchildren, Karleigh and Trent Alderson, and Payton "Punky" McDaniel. She is also survived by 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet and William Henson, Fishers, IN, Dorothy and Bill Roberts, Linton, IN, and Rosemary Stough, Worthington, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. John Brand is in charge of services. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday and until service time on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, with envelopes at the funeral home.
