Following is one of the Biographies and Stories which where gathered by Charles Sumner McKamy in the 1950s for publication in a Crawford County History Book. Unfortunately he passed away before the book was published.
Caswell Steel Jones, oldest son of William C. and Mary H. Jones, was born in Robinson Nov. 5, 1870. He attended grade school in Robinson, then attended McKendree College at Lebanon, Illinois for two years. Later he attended Wabash College at Crawfordsville, Indiana. He studied law in the office of a friend of his father's in Little Rock, Arkansas for one year, and another year in his father's office but did not like it. In 1892 he was made assistant cashier of the Robinson Bank which later became the First National Bank. He retired from the bank to look after his business affairs. After several years of retirement, in 1930 following the death of Edward E. Lindsay, he became the manager of the Robinson State Bank and handled the affairs of that bank through the depression until the formation of the Second National Bank. He remained a director of the Second National Bank until his death April 8, 1952.
He was married in 1908 to Cora White of Terre Haute, Indiana who survived him a few months. He was active in civic and charitable affairs. He was a member and trustee of the First Presbyterian Church for many years. He was active in starting and maintaining the Crawford County Country Club. In 1948 he received the Distinguished Citizen Award of the Robinson Chamber of Commerce.
