This is Mary Rolston, writing for my mom, Patricia Donham Rolston. 10 years ago was the last time we were in Silverhill. On that trip we got to speak quite awhile with Elsie Chandler, the long-time librarian and a friend of my Grandma's. My Grandma, Mildred Donham, taught at the school in Silverhill in the early 1930s. My mom spent the first two years of her life living in Silverhill. She will be 85 in a couple of months.

I have, and do, enjoy your web site and all the history that has been documented for this little community. This is a wonderful web site. It helped us figure out why our Great-Great Aunt Christine Mathson (Kerstin Matsdotter) moved from Chicago to Silverhill. My dad said that she had a peanut farm, but I don't find evidence of that anywhere. The 1920, 30 and 40 census says that she is unemployed, but owns what must be a shabby house worth only $300 in 1920. She never married and this is before SS, so I wonder how she got along? Through this site I was able to find her grave in the Silverhill Cemetery. I wonder who put the stone on her grave? Is there a way to find out? No one has her birthdate in Sweden. She was born March 18, 1865.

I loved reading the Czech Mate. Can I purchase a copy somewhere? I grew up in Silverhill and remember some of these people and would love to be able to share with my sister. My husbands family were from there (Grandparents, Clarence and Phoebe Anderson). Thanks for any help you can give. Thelma Dixon Stuart

Hello, Just wanted to tell you that this website has helped me in my quest for family history. My Grandfather, Einar Oscar Leonard Johnson was a pastor there in the 1920's. It was wonderful to find pictures of him. Finding this website answered a question for me that I always wondered about. My older aunts and uncles all had southern accents and I could never figure out why. My dad, David, was the youngest and was born in Minnesota and didn't have that accent. Now I know why. Thank you so much! Darcy (Johnson) Metz

Today is Fathers Day 2012. As I sit here and look at my beautiful children, I cannot help but think about my wonderful grandfather, the late, GREAT Milton J Cline. I miss him very much, as do his grand daughters. We are still Very lucky to have my grandmother, Lois Cline, going strong. Looking back on all the wonderful memories I have from growing up in Silverhill, it really makes me miss and appreciate going up in such a great town

Message: This is a really great web page. It is very helpful for me to learn more about my Family and the People they lived with. The town I live in is a little larger than Silverhill but has many similar Characteristics. This site here helps me feel closer to my Great Grandfather J.N. Jacobson that was Pastor of the Mission Church in Silverhill in the early 1900's. I just returned from my first Confirmation Retreat and was looking at your website that same day. And I found a picture of him with the Confirmation Class of 1910. WOW I thought, I was following in his footsteps 100 years later. I want to thank you for the time and resources that you all have put into this site. May God Bless You All for your service.
