Message: What a great site! My grandmother, Josephine Celer Karasek, and grandfather lived in Silverhill in the 1920s. Both are buried in the Silverhill Cemetary. As best I remember from family stories, my grandfather died in complications of a fall from a hayloft which as I recall was somehow related to a hurricane in the 20s. From you website, I assume it was the 1926 hurricane. For many years my grandmother, who ended up back in the Chicago area, along with the rest of the family visited friends in Silverhill, the Radas, the Dubroveks (sic). I remember as a kid hanging out with the son of the owner of the Riverside Inn, now gone. Anytime we are in the area, which is often, we visit Silverhill. Thanks for this resource. Andy Strojny

Message: Originally, I checked out the site b/c my mother, Ruth McCawley West Tucker spoke of visiting there as a child, but I was in awe of the info and quality of your website. Other site owners should be both jealous and take lessons from your site. Quite impressive, I must say.

I am so happy to be able to share this website with my grandchildren so they are aware of the history involving great and great-great and even great- great-great grandparents, and can actually see photos of these ancestors. What a thrill for all of our family. Thank you so much for sharing this website.
