The history of Silverhill, Alabama begins in 1896 when the Svea Land Company of Chicago decides to establish a Swedish farming colony in central Baldwin County. In 1909, the first Czechoslovakian settlers migrate to an area southwest of Silverhill to begin a Bohemian colony.
