I have found two links about the 1899 tornado. There are no names listed, but the articles do contain great historical detail.

The following story is from Robin Giles:
"My grandfather, H. H. Starr, owned a jewelery store there in 1899 and had just built a new home, both of which were destroyed by the tornado. He was in his store at the time, waiting on a lady customer when it hit. He woke up several blocks away, covered with debris. His store was gone and his hand was on a woman's foot. It was the customer who had been in his store, unfortunately she had not survived."
