The following research sources are specific to the Trøndelag region of Norway.

Bygdeboker for Nord-Trøndelag Fylke.  List of bygdeboks available from the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks. This is one of the largest collections in the U.S. although the Trønderlag of America probably owns more recent books specific to Trøndelag.

Emigrants from this port came from many areas north and south of Trondheim so not all were necessarily from Trøndelag. This free database comes from the Archives of Norway.

Digitized Parish Records for Nord-Trøndelag. This is a growing database from the National Archives of Norway. These are in Norwegian.

Slektsforskning Stod - Searchable  database for Stod parish in Nord-Trøndelag which includes all records from about 1600 to 1750.  Put in a first name and approximate date and you will get all persons with that first name, along with their father's name and farm they were born on. Another click and you can see all records pertaining to that person; i.e., census, marriage, baptisms, deaths and probates if any.

Statsarkivet i Trondheim - The regional state archives contains records regarding most matters registered or processed by a governmental authority at the local or central level (church records, census, maps, heritage). You can visit the archives to use the materials yourself or you can write to ask for assistance. Please note that they are understaffed and requests for the archives to do your research may take a long time to get a response. The archives has moved to a new location which is listed below.

Trønderlag of America - The Trønderlag of America is a bygdelag (lag) — an organization or association of emigrants and their descendants from the Trøndelag region (middle) of Norway and includes both Nord- and Sør-Trøndelag. Lags were established in the U.S. to maintain the ties to the homeland and provide a place for those emigrants to assemble at least once a year.  Trønderlaget was established in 1908 and will be celebrating the anniversary of its founding on August  9, 2008 in Fergus Falls, MN. The Trønderlag of America website also contains an extensive genealogy resources page.
