Maj. Bill Hunsucker

U.S.Flag   Bill Hunsucker As a bright sun bore down on his native West Texas, Major Bill Hunsucker was buried Saturday afternoon in Crosbyton Cemetery.

The 36 year old TAFT commander in the U.S. Air Force died Sunday, June 19 (Iran time) in a plane crash at Vahadati, Iran. Major Hunsucker was alone in the plane which he was piloting.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Nixon, pastor of Parkview Baptist Church in Plainview, and Major James W. Millsaps from Reese Air Force Base officiating.

Adams Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Born March 8, 1941, William Riley Hunsucker was a son of Mrs. Mary Hunsucker and the late Noble Hunsucker Sr. He was reared on the East Plains.

Bill Hunsucker was graduated from Crosbyton High School and Texas Tech University with a degree in accounting. He was employed as an accountant in Fort Worth for Pan-American Oil Co. before entering the Air Force Feb. 14, 1964.

The former Jenalou Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Less Miller, and Hunsucker were married June 17, 1961 in Crosbyton.

Major Hunsucker flew in excess of 100 missions in North Vietnam. The local pilot and his family resided in Panama City, Florida. He left last December for a one year tour of duty at Vahadati Air Force Base, Iran.

Survivors include his wife, Jenalou, of Panama City, Fla.; one son, Brett Hunsucker, 11, and a daughter, Kristi Hunsucker, 10, both of the home; his mother, Mrs. Mary Hunsucker of Crosbyton; one brother, Noble Hunsucker Jr. of McAdoo; a grandmother, Mrs. Beulah Wooten of Spur; two uncles; and two aunts.
