Frances E. Miller Slade Price
Frances (Fannie) E. Miller was born 1841 in Franklin Co., TN, the daughter of
George S. Miller and America Hill Miller. Besides Franklin Co., the
family also lived in Rutherford and Davidson counties.

In 1860 in Davidson Co., she married Nathaniel J. Slade, a widower,
and they had two children: Sarah Ellen Slade and Infant Slade. Nat
Slade died in 1864, and in 1866 Fannie married Thomas D. Price, a
widower. T.D. had lived in DeKalb Co. as well as Davidson. His brother
William and family lived in Smith Co. Thomas and Fannie moved to Smith
Co. around 1869 and lived in Dixon Springs and then in Rome, TN.

My grandmother, Ella Frances Miller (Highers), was raised by Aunt Fannie
and Uncle Tom Price in Rome after her parents died. There Ella met and
married Simon C. Highers and started a family. Fannie Price died in Sewanee,
1910, and is buried in the old City Cemetery in Nashville on the Slade lot.
Thomas Price died in Rome 1897, and is buried in the Price Cemetery at Lock 7.

Thos. D. Price filed a law suit (see link below) for a petition for dividing
property where the deceased (Nathaniel J. Slade) died without a will.

Liberty Tenn Feby 8th 1868

Thos D Price
       Dear sir your bacon is all well cured and ready for market
as fine a lot as I ever saw I have never got but one lard barrel
The other is yet in pots kettles jars and borrowed stands  JC
      You will please send me about two hundred or if (illegible)
two hundred and fifty Dollars and oblige yours

NOTE: In 1850, Thomas D. Price, wife Isabella, and family were living in
DeKalb Co.  In 1860, Thomas, now a widower, was living in Davidson Co.
In 1870, Thomas and his second wife, Fannie E. Miller Slade Price, were
living in Smith Co. (Dixon Springs district). From 1880- they lived
in the Rome district. My grandmother, Ella Frances Miller, lived with
them after her parents died. Nearby was the Highers Buggy Shop, where
Ella met her husband, Simon C. Highers.

$742.00   Nashville, Tenn. Nov. 3rd 1869

Twelve months after date I promise to pay to the order
of Joseph C. and Omaline March, his wife
Seven hundred and forty two Dollars
for [illegible], it being the balance owed on a tract of
land in Smith County, Tennessee, bought by me [?] of said
J.C. March and his wife & this shall be held as a lien on the
property, until paid.
