1 The IGI, Ba:1100019 says he was born 1802, but also says it was in Pocahontas Co, WV which cannot be correct.  He might have been born as late as 1806 since he first appears in the Lee Co, VA tax lists in 1827.  In the 1820 Lee Co. census he evidently is in the age 18-25 category, and in the 1830 Harlan Co, KY census he is in the age 20-30 category.

2 His estate was in probate by 8 Sept. 1846 (see note 4 below).

3 Her name is unknown but there is a Lawrence Co, KY death record in which it is claimed that a woman was the daughter of William and Margaret Casebolt.  I'm guessing they married about the time he was 21.  I have found no marriage record.  KR 56(4):52-57 says married c.1816 and eldest daughter b. 1816-17?

4 In the 1850 census, his widow, Armelda, was living with Joseph Montroy's family (whom I take to be her nephew) ( next door to a six or seven-Montroy household cluster, containing, I believe, several brothers and her father, Jean Baptiste Montroy) household, with an 11-year old Casebolt daughter (this daughter and an 8-year-old grand-nephew were recorded as born in Missouri) in Randloph Co, IL, West Township, p.115/229.  This family name is variously recorded in Randolph records as Montrauye, Montreal, Montrieuil, Montrieuile, Montrieul, Montrieulle, Montroy, etc.  I have found no marriage record, but on 6 Oct. 1846 Armelda Casebolt was appointed administratrix of William Casebolt, deceased (Randolph, Probate Records, 1832-43, pp.92-94) .   I have no proof that this is the same William as was in Harlan Co, nor that he of Harlan Co, was the same as he of Lee Co, but I have found no trace of any other William of the appropriate age.
