WELCOME TO GREENE TOWNSHIP!

One of the original townships, Greene Township was formed as Beaver Dam Township, changing the name in 1840. In 1854, a portion of Greene Twp was removed to form Summit Township.

Hello, my name is Katie Rose Costello, and I'm the new volunteer coordinator.  I was born and raised in the city of Erie, but have lived in Nueces County Texas, for 23 years.  I caught the genealogy "bug" about 17 years ago, (now that I'm over a thousand miles from "home"!), and have discovered that my Rose (Rus, Ros, Ross) ancestors farmed in beautiful Greene Township.  I found several of their tombstones a few years ago in the old cemetery next to the Beechwood Inn on Rt. 8 (St. Paul's Evangelical Church Cemetery).  That was probably my favorite genealogical "find" ever!

I'd love to make this website a great source for Greene Township research, but I need your help and input.  I only get to the Erie area about once a year, and my personal research time is very limited. This is also my first effort at being a coordinator. But I will try to answer your questions and will gladly coordinate the posting of any information or items of interest regarding Greene Township. Please e-mail me by clicking here if I can help you in any way. If you have material to contribute to this township, you may continue to send the material directly to our county coordinator, Bill Klauk. Or you can let me know what you have, and I can make arrangements for you. I hope to hear from other researchers soon.
