     Obedience Catherine BROWN, daughter of David Leggett BROWN and Elizabeth HALLMARK, was born on 1 March 1837 in Bibb County, Alabama.

She was probably the female under age 5 listed in the household of her father, David Leggett BROWN, in the 1840 Federal Census of Bibb County, Alabama.1

Obedience Catherine BROWN appeared on a census, enumerated 10 December 1850, in the household of her parents David Leggett BROWN and Elizabeth HALLMARK in east side of Cahaba River, Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama. She was recorded as Obedience Brown, age 13, born Alabama. She was the only one of the schooled not shown as attending school durig the year.

Obedience married James G. FINDLEY, son of Charles P. FINDLEY and Sarah BISHOP, on 12 July 1855 in Bibb County, Alabama. The service was preformed by P. Wallace, J. P.2

Obedience Catherine BROWN appeared on a census, enumerated 28 July 1860, in the household of her parents David Leggett BROWN and Elizabeth HALLMARK in Randolph, Bibb County, Alabama. She was recorded as Caroline B. Brown, age 22.3

Obedience Catherine BROWN appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1870, in the household of her parents David Leggett BROWN and Elizabeth HALLMARK in Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama. It was hard to read, but she appears to have been listed as Catherine Finley, age 32, born Alabama. Her son William Finley, age 11 was with her.4

Obedience Catherine BROWN died on 10 March 1916 in West Blocton, Bibb County, Alabama, at age 79.
