Mary married George J. H. T. WEAVER, son of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD, on 27 March 1871 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. She the half-Indian adopted daughter of George's sister Mary. After the death of her husband, Greenberry Sanford, Mealey brought her adopted daughter back from Texas to Tuscaloosa county to live. George a young widower and veteran met and fell in love with her.2
Mary Catherine SANFORD died on 31 August 1927 in Kirbyville, Jasper County, Texas, at age 76.3 She was buried in Barge Cemetery, Zavalla, Angelina County, Texas.
