Green Berry Sanford1

M, b. circa 1814, d. May 1870
Green Berry Sanford was born circa 1814 in Georgia.

Green married Mary Permelia WEAVER, daughter of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD, on 14 June 1837 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.1

Green Berry Sanford and Mary Permelia WEAVER moved from Alabama to Shelby County, Texas, before 1850. In 1850 they were living in Shelby County along with other Sanfords. They had no children at that time. Then in 1860, they turn up in Orange County, Texas with a 14-year-old Thomas and 9-year-old Catherine. Family lore among Catherine's descendants is that she was an adopted, half-Indian child. That is probably true because Catherine grew up and married Permelia's younger brother, George. In 1900 Permelia was living with George Weaver in Angelina County as his widowed sister.2 He and Mary Permelia WEAVER adopted Mary Catherine SANFORD circa 1852 in Texas.

Green Berry Sanford died in May 1870 in Orange County, Texas.
