PATTERSON, John , of Moorefield, is a son of the late Robert Patterson. He was b. in Scot., in 1835, and came to Can. and Maryborough Tp. in 1856, being among the first settlers in the Tp. He has practically grown up with Maryborough, having been prominently identified with its growth and development for the past fifty years. For some years Mr. Patterson was Councillor and also Deputy Reeve. He also unsuccessfully contested the riding for M.P.P. against James Tucker. He is at present acting P.M. at Moorefield, although he still retains his 200 acre farm in Maryborough Tp. It is needless to say that Mr. Patterson is a strong Liberal. In religion he is a member and an Elder of the Presbyterian church. As a farmer he was very successful, and paid particular attention to the raising and improving of fine stock, of which -- both cattle and horses -- he has raised some of the prize winners of the township.

He m. first, Miss Watson. Second wife, Miss Atkinson. Issue: James W. and Agnes Pearl (d.). Few men are more prominent or better known in the Riding than Mr. Patterson.
