LINDSAY, James, Sr ., was b. in Aberdeenshire, Scot., in 1839, and came to Canada in 1854, and set. on lot 12, con. 3. He is a Presbyterian, and for some time one of the Managers in his church. In politics he is a Liberal, and has held the offices of Dep. Reeve, and County Commissioner. His first wife was Margaret Thring, who d. in 1864, age 28, leaving two children: James A., and Mrs. Allan Ironside. (d.). His second wife was Elizabeth Carr. Issue: William, lives in Oak Lake, Man; George, m. Sarah Hammill, and set. in Fergus; Harry (d.); Allie, a nurse in Buffalo; Mrs. James Milne, set. in Oak Lake, Man.; Mrs. Wm. Gumph, set. Manitoba; Elizabeth, Jessie Jane, and Ann, who lives in Welland.

James A. Lindsay owns 215 acres on lot 10, con. 3. His farm is under a high state of cultivation, and he is one of the most progressive farmers in Nichol. He has a number of thoroughbred cattle and horses, and exhibits at the various fairs with great success. He is a Presbyterian, and one of the Managers of his church in Fergus. In politics he is a Liberal. He m. Jane Duncan of East Garafraxa.
