LIGGETT, John (d.), was b. Co. Armagh, Ire. 1841, d. in Guelph Tp., 1891. He was the son of the late Robert Liggett of Co. Armagh, Ire., who d. in 1890, aged 80 years. The late John Liggett, came to Canada with his parents in 1845, being at this time only four years old. They set. in Hope Tp., Durham Co., and pursued farming. He was there raised. In 1863 he m. Mary Little of Hope. They lived for a time in Victoria Co., and later in Halton Co. In 1882 they came to Guelph Tp., and bought the present farm of 250 acres, and it was on this farm that the late John Liggett d. nine years later. He was a member of the Pres. Church, and in politics a Liberal. While he did not reside long in Guelph Tp., he was a much respected and very successful citizen. He was an energetic man, starting in life on his own resources, and accumulated a competence. Issue: Mrs. Thomas Jackson, Thomas, Robert H., Maggie, and William J.

Thomas, m. Lena M. Patten, who was b. in Eng. Issue: Mary J., Ina E., James M., and John T.

Robert H., unm., and Thomas, own the home farm, (250 acres), which they work in conjunction. Mrs. John Liggett, lives with the former.

William J., m. Eva Simmons, set., at Parry Sound.
