HINDE, William B ., (d.), was b. Portland, Dorset, Eng., in 1831, and d. July, 1903, age 72. He came to Canada in 1857 and set. in Deerham. In 1863 he sold his property in that township, and purchased a farm in Wroxeter, where he carried on the live stock and butchering business for 10 years. In 1873 he came to Harriston and purchased a farm of 300 acres, partly in the corporation of the town, upon which his sons now reside. The live stock, meat and grain business was extensively carried on in Harriston under the firm name of William B. Hinde & Sons, and since his death has been continued by his sons upon the same lines and under the same firm name.

Mr. Hinde was a Warden in the English church, and in politics a Conservative. He was held in the highest esteem by those who knew him, and was a successful man in affairs. In 1857 he m. Emma Lano, of Portland, Dorset, England, who survives him and is living in Harriston. Issue: Martha, m Dr. R. R. Hopkins, set. in West Toronto; Mary (d. in infancy), Robert (d. 30), William, John (d. infancy), Hattie, m. Rev. William Hartley, of Windsor; Richard, Charles, and James.

William Hinde, a son of the late William B. Hinde, and a member of the firm of William B. Hinde & Sons, attends principally to the management of the farm. He is a member of the I. O. O. F., and in politics he is a Conservative. Like his father and all of the family, he is a member of the English church. He m Rachel Donaldson, of Drew. Issue: Daisy M., Robert H., Jessie A., Hazel V., Nellie R., Arthur L. and Bessie W.

Richard Hinde is a member of the firm William B. Hinde & Sons and looks after the stock dealing branch of the business. He is a member of the English church and a Conservative. He m. Beatrice Hocks. Issue: Horace, and John and Robert, twins.

Charles Hinde is a member of the firm, and his special department is their grain business. He is unm. and lives with his mother.

James Hinde is a member of the firm. He m. Honora Bowerman, of Beaverton. They reside in Harriston.

The firm have extended their business and now have branches at Gorrie, Wroxeter and Fordwich.
