HARKNESS, J. D
. Editor and proprietor of the Palmerston Spectator, is a native of Dundas Co.,
Ont., where his ancestors were pioneers. After finishing his education, he
commenced his journalistic career, with the Kingston Whig, where he remained
for some years, later accepting a position on the editorial staff of the
Iroquois News, and still later on the Peterborough Examiner. In 1899 he
purchased the Spectator and made permanent settlement in Palmerston. In
addition to publishing the Spectator, he carries on an extensive job printing
establishment, and is one of the leading citizens of the town.
