HALL, William . The late William Hall of Nichol, was b. in Yorkshire, Eng., and came to Canada in 1855, settling in Nichol, on lot 1, con. 12. Upon his arrival in Canada his sole worldly wealth consisted of one York shilling, but as he was a man of enterprising disposition, and good business ability, he soon met with success. Mr. Hall was a prosperous farmer, a Methodist, and a Liberal in politics. For a number of years he held the office of Assessor in Nichol. He d. in 1883, at the age of 68. He m. Sarah Tindale, who was b. in England, and d. in 1896, at the age of 76. Issue: Thomas, William, Elizabeth, Mary, John, Fannie, Jennie, Joseph, and Annie.

Thomas m. for his first wife, Miss Falconer. Issue: William, Annie, and John. His second wife was a Mrs. Rossin. No Issue. William, m. Hannah Aitchinson, and set. in Alma. He d. in 1887, at the age of 47, and she in 1888, age 42. Issue: Martha, John, William, Robert, George, and Joseph. All are living and working in the township of Peel, excepting Robert, who is married, and set. in Whitby.

Elizabeth m. Josiah French (d.), of Elora; Mary (d.), m. John Gray, and set. at Mono Mills.

John is the owner of 100 acres on lot 18, con. 13, Peel. He is a good farmer, a man of sterling qualities, and is in good circumstances. Like his father, he is progressive in business affairs. He keeps pedigreed Durham cattle, and feeds for export. Mr. Hall is a Methodist, and a Conservative. He has been School Trustee for a number of years. He m. Mary Binns. Issue: Sarretta Edith, and Mary Eva.

Fannie, m. Thomas Street, and set. in Manitoba.

Joseph, m. Jane Gibbon (d.), for his first wife, and set. in Brantford. Issue: James, John (d.); Arthur and Percy. His second wife was Mrs. Emery. No issue.

Annie m. George Smith, a farmer in Manitoba.
