FYFE Family, The . The founder of this family in Canada was the late John Fyfe, who was b. near Edinburgh, Scot., in 1790. He was raised in Soot. and here m. Christina McDonald. They came with the family to Canada, in 1831, with the McIntoshs and bought the adjoining farm in the "Paisley Block." Issue: Robert, William, John, Thomas, Mrs. Wm. Gibson, Mrs. Peter McQueen, and George. They were all b. in Argyleshire, Scot., excepting George.

Of these children, Robert went to U.S.

William was b. 1818, d. 1904, age 86. He m. Mary McIntosh, who d. 1906. Issue: John, Mrs. Cable Reeves, Jane, Mrs. Urban Ryde, Alexander, Mrs. George Wingfield, Robert, Elizabeth and Christina.

Mr. Fyfe was a sterling citizen, and one of the most successful farmers in the. section. He was very active in the Presbyterian church, and much respected by all who knew him. Of his family, Robert runs the old homestead of 207 acres and is unm.

John, m. Elizabeth Pallister, and set. in Puslinch. Issue: Mrs. King, William (d.), John, Richard, Mrs. Bennett, set. Orton; Mrs. Geo. Bidwell and Robert. Most of the members of this family set. in Amaranth, and are prosperous citizens there.

Thomas, b. 1825, d. 1901, age 76. He m. Elizabeth Oak and set. in Puslinch. He was a very successful man, and accumulated a nice property, and had the respect and confidence of the community. Issue: John, unm.; Hannah, unm. His widow survives.

John, their son, succeeded to the homestead, where he now resides and owns 200 acres.

George was b. on the old homestead in the "Paisley Block' in 1837, and d. in 1905. He always lived on the home farm, and in his youth attended the Cowan school. His farm of 280 acres as well as his thoroughbred and other stock, was of the best. He took a deep interest in church matters and was an Elder in the Presbyterian church for years. He was also School Trustee for many years. Mr. George Fyfe was a man of strict integrity, and occupied a high place in the community. He m. Mary A. Hearn. Issue: John, Mrs. Robert J. Wallace, Mrs. George H. Young, William, Christina, Mrs. Fred Talcott, Robert, George and Bertha. Robert and George succeeded to the home farm, which they operate in conjunction.
