EATON, John (d.), late of Peel, was b. in County Antrim, Ire., in 1813, and d. at the age of 83. He came to Canada in 1853, without money, and in 1855 he took up 300 acres of land in the "Queen's Bush," lot 12, con. 7, Peel. By hard work and strict attention to his business, he managed to accumulate a fine property, and to educate and send out his children in the world, well fitted to fight its battles. He was a Trustee and a member of the Quarterly Board of the Methodist church, and in politics a Conservative. He m. Margaret Boyle who d. in 1893, aged 77. Issue: Wallace (d.) ; Thomas, in Preston Tp.; Mrs. John Maxwell, Salem; Archibald, in Preston; George, in Luther; Mrs. John Booth (d.); Mrs. John Martin, Luther; John, on the old homestead, and Hugh in the North-West.

John Eaton, Jr., was b. in 1857. He owns 100 acres on lot 12, con. 7, Peel, where he carries on mixed farming. He is very successful, overcoming a severe loss that he suffered, by having, some years ago, all of his buildings destroyed by fire. In 1885 he m. Elizabeth Rumble. Issue: William F., Marguerite, Elias S. and Hugh W.
