BLYTH, Henry, Jr.
, b. Hamilton, in 1836, was the son of the late Henry Blyth,
Sr., who came to Canada in 1834 and set. in Hamilton, working at his trade of
shoemaker. In 1842 he came to Arthur with his family, and they set. on the
present homestead which is now owned by the subject of this sketch. Henry
Blyth, Jr., m. Jennie Connell in 1859, and they had the following issue: Mrs.
John Langdon, Arthur; George at home; James, Luther; Mrs. James Morrison,
Peel; Mrs. H. Clark, Garafraxa; Mrs. A. Hellyer, Arthur; Mrs. Peter Sparks,
Arthur; Mattie, at home; Mrs. R. Batho, Arthur; and Arthur, at home.
Life his late respected father, he is a member and trustee of the Baptist church, and in politics a Liberal. The Blyth family were not only the pioneers of the township of Arthur, and among the first to settle on the Owen Sound road, but they have been very prosperous, and as citizens stand very high in the community, where they are connected by marriage and otherwise with some of the best families.
