BLACKWOOD, Robert.
This prominent citizen of Harriston was b. in Kinross, Scot., in
1841, and
was educated there, later serving an apprenticeship of five years in
acquiring the harness and collar business. He afterwards worked at this trade
two years in the city of Edinburgh, and six years in the city of London. He
came to Canada in 1870, and set. permanently in Harriston in 1876, where he
has since carried on his business successfully, and as a business and upright
citizen ranks among the best. He takes an active interest in religious,
temperance and political matters, and was for years an Elder in the
Presbyterian church. He was a lay member of the Presbytery that met in St.
John, N.B., in 1904, and has been a member of the High School Board for some
years. He m. Isabella Ross, of Cromarty, Scot., in 1870. Issue: Mrs. Dr.
Ball, Harriston; Mrs. J.W. Wilson, Harriston; Annie, George and William.
