Leigh Ann Jones, 17, of Pocola was born July 10, 1983, at Fort Smith to Luke and Kelly Lee (Brown) Jones, Jr. She died Thursday, August 17, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a student.
Leigh Ann was in the eleventh grade at Pocola High School, a cheerleader, a mascot for Pocola Indians, FHA, basketball, and a member of the Flag and Band Team.
She is survived by her father, Luke Jones, Jr., of Pocola; her mother, Kelly Lee Abernathy of Pocola; one sister, Shuree Nicole Jones of Pocola; her paternal grandparents, Luke and Edith Jones of Pocola; her maternal grandparents, Wayne and Betty Brown of Lavaca.
Services were Saturday, August 19, 2000, at the Pocola High School Gym. Burial followed in
New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers were Brett Thigpin, Brandon Hopson, Brian Patton, Coty Jerrell, Steven Loux, and Dustin Parker.
Honorary pallbearer was Jody Beard.
