OBITUARIES OF HARMON COUNTY

GLENNA GAYE TRAMMELL DAUGHERTY 1939 - 2003OBITUARY Glenna Gaye Daugherty, 63, of Butler, OK died Friday, April 25, 2003 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services were held at 10 am Tuesday, April 29, 2003 in the First Baptist Church of Butler. Burial followed in the Arapaho Cemetery.
Glenna was born Oct 27, 1939 to John and Wilora (Reynolds) Trammell in Hollis, OK. She was raised in the LaCasa Community, south of Hollis, and graduated from LaCasa High School in 1957. She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State College in Weatherford for two years.
In Sep of 1959 she married Gary Daughterty in Hollis and the couple moved to Kansas, living in Selden and Hamilton. She completed her education and received her teaching degree. She began her teaching career in Forgan, KS in 1973. In 1980 the Daugherty's moved back to Custer County and she took a teaching position at Custer City. She taught there until her retirement in 1997.
Mrs Daugherty was a member of the First Baptist Church, Butler, the Round Up Club and Butler AARP. She loved being with family and taking care of her grandchildren and expecially enjoyed following their sports activities.
Survivors include: Her husband, Gary of the home in Butler; Three daughters, Kim Baker and her husband Alvin of Butler, Donnita Clapp and her husband Kerry of Edmond and Brenda Meacham and her husband Kirk of Clinton; two sisters, Aleen Pringle of Conroe, TX and Peggy Hawkins of Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren, Matt Baker, Kasie Baker, Makayla Baker, Kyler Baker, Adam Clapp, and Abby Clapp; and her mother-inlaw Polly Daugherty of Butler.
Ford CARTER
Ford Carter, aged 91 years, of Levelland, Texas,formerly of Harmon County, died Thursday, Jan 2, 2003.
Carter was born in Harmon County on Mar 5, 1911 to Frank and Ada Carter on a farm north of Hollis. He attended school at Tea Cross and McKnight.
He was married to Marie Kellison and to this union two daughters were born, Frances and Mickey. He was one of 11 children of Frank Carter. Others being Charlie, Bertha, Ellis, Will, Pink, Bessie, Cecil, Leona, Mike and Floyd.
Survivors include: Frances Stanley, Mickey Ivey and Floyd Carter, six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.MINA ROLLINS GINN
Mina Ginn, aged 87 years, of Hereford, TX, formerly of Hollis, died Thursday, Jan 30, 2003 at Westgate of Kings Manor Methodist Home in Hereford, TX.
Funeral services for Mina Ginn were held at the Dodson Church of Christ in Dodson, Texas with Bob Garton officiating and Truman Teel assisting. Interment followed at Fairmount Cemetery, Hollis, Oklahoma.
Mina Rollins was born Dec 17, 1915 in Hollis to J E and Letecia Rollins.
On June 3, 1933, she married Roy Ginn in Hollis. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Ginn was a homemaker volunteering at the Harmon Memorial Hospital, Hollis Public Library, Harmon County Historical Museum and Clerk for the polls during elections. The community of Hollis voted her Mrs. Arnett Community for her civic activity, which also included the schools, Extention Club and Garden Club. She was a member and very active in the Church of Christ in Dodson, TX.
Survivors include: two sons, Marion Ginn and his wife Marcie of Hereford, TX, and Gary Ginn of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Sherri Marcotte and her husband Rick of Piedmont; seven grand children; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and a sister.
The family request memorials to the Dodson Church of Christ or the Westgate Nursing Center of Hereford, TX.
BILLY McVICKER
Billy Boy McVicker, aged 77 years of Deer Park, TX, formerly of Hollis, died Sunday, February 2, 2003, in Deer Park, TX.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at the Pasadena Funeral Chapel with Rev Mike McMahon officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at 2 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2003, at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis.
McVicker was born on May 10, 1925 in Hollis. He was a member of Thomas Avenue Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX. He retired from Phillips Petroleum and served in the United States Navy during WWII.
Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Jessie McVicker; sons, Billy Wayne McVicker and his wife Barbara and Gary Don McVicker; one daughter, Ramona Goodman; brothers, John D McVicker, T "Buck" McVicker and Jackie McVicker and his wife Jo; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of usual remembrances family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
HARRY TREADWAY
Harry Treadway, aged 92 years, of Hollis died Thursday, Jan 23, 2003, at Harmon Memorial Hospital in Hollis.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Saturday, Jan 25, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Hollis with Pastor Jim Westmoreland, officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery.
Harry Van Treadway was born Dec 13, 1910 to Harry and Maggie Mae Davidson Treadway in Hollis. He lived in Harmon County the remainder of his life. He was baptized and became a member of the Baptist Church at the age of nine and served as a deacon for half a century at the Antioch Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church in Hollis. He served on the FHA board of directors and the Ron Independent School Board for many years. He always supported and had an active involvement in local civic activities. He was a farmer
He cared for his companion, partner and lover of 71 years, Leo, until her death on Jul 23, 2002. He was a sterling example and source of encouragement for his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends throughout his life.Survivors include; two daughters, Linda Stegall and her husband Albert of Borger, TX and Theresa Mary Lloyd and her husband Thomas of Warrensburgh, NY; two grandsons, Harry See Stegall and his wife Pam of Borger, TX and David Van Lloyd of Los Angeles, CA; three granddaughters, Tonie Marie Jordan and her husband Jack of Cypress, TX, Patsy Jean Mitchell and her husband Randy of Odessa, TX and Dorothy Lynn Newman and her husband Allan of Borger, TX; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; Mildred Zinchini of Vandergrift, PA and Kola Treadway of Hollis and many nieces and nephews.

Charles Loyd Dennis, aged 79 years, of Lawton, died Monday, Jan 27, 2003, at a Lawton Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday, Jan 29, 2003, at the Northwest Church of Christ. Burial with military honors will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Dennis was born Nov 26, 1923, in Hollis, to Loyd and Lila Tedford Dennis. He was united in marriage to Lavella Garrett on Jan 25, 1948 in Hollis.His Civil Service Career encompassed many jobs including instructor, computer programmer, and statistician/mathematician. He retired in 1981 from the communications and electronics division. Dennis and his family have been longtime members of the Northwest Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for 30 years, a Bible class teacher and was actively involved in missions in the United States and Mexico.
Survivors include: his wife Lavelle of the home; a daughter, Vickie Lee of Tulsa; a son, Rick Dennis of Tulsa; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and James Henderson of Owasso; seven grandchildren, Charissa Lee and Melodie Lee Shaffer and husband Jonathan, Levi and Lauren Dennis, Jonathan, Emily and Caleb Henderson; two sisters: Dorothy Kuykendall of Altus and Mary Jo Barefoot of Raleigh, NC.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Seth Dennis Henderson.

S H TAYLOR DEAD
After a continued illness, lasting for about 6 weeks Mr Taylor, our much respected and highly appreciated neighbor passed away. Sam had been continually weakening for sometime and at 3 pm last Sunday evening the end came.
Mr Taylor leaves many friends and relative to mourn the death. We sympathize with the heartbroken family.
The remains were entered in the Teacross Cemetery, Monday at 5 pm. Rev J R McCarly conducted the funeral services, a large crowd assembled on the sad occasion to pay their last respects to our honorable and beloved friend and neighbor.

The threshing machine purchased by J H Warner came in Weds and was immediately taken to the wheat fields near Hollis. The farmers who are depending on this machine to thresh their wheat were getting a little anxious and will be relieved on learning of the arriaval of the machine>
The second cutting of alfalfa is now demanding the attention of many farmers in this section of the country
