History of the Jennings Case is a book prepared in 1920s from court records to record the genealogy and claims of heirs of William Jennings, who left an estate in England.

The following letter gives one family's claim to that estate.

Wellston (Oklahoma)
12-29-1925

Mr. D.D. Jennings
El Reno, Okla

Dear Son:

I am enclosing you a cliping of a news paper about the Jennings estate of Inglan also a letter written me by Uncle Charlie Jennings from Columbia Va in 1889. I once proved up my heirship to this estate when I was 18 years old but I supose the record is lost by now. I think some one aught to look after this and I think you are the one to do it. England is now willing to pay this off. And of corse every Jennings in the U. States will claim heirship to it, but all wont get it. My grandfather was named John D. Jennings and the letter of Uncle Charlie enclosed speaks of my cousin James A. Shepard of Columbia Va. Shepard was P.O. Master at the time he wrote me. And if Mr. Shepard is aliving he would be a good one to write to tell him you are my son. Shepard once corresponded with me while I lived at McAlester and if he is living he rememberes me if he is dead some of them in Va know of me and my family for Uncle Charlie to them when he went fro Dallas in 1889. Dana do not loose Uncle Charlies letter because it will be proff of our heirship. I am mailing it to you so you can get Sheperd address and give you some kind of idea. I am shure you children will get my part I am not sure I will be living for it will take some time to get our and the right heirs proved up. My father all ways said he never would live to get his but he thought his children would. And I think the same way, though you cant tell. The one of our family should look after this. Return uncle letter to me and let me know if it suits you to look after this if you dont want attend to it let me know.

Much love to all,
Your Dad C.C. Jennings
