   After many months of patient suffering, Mrs. Jos. Welch passed from life to death at her home at 409 West Third street, Delphos, Tuesday evening, at 7:10 o'clock. Twenty-three months ago Mrs. Welch suffered a stroke of paralysis, which affected her entire right side, and she has since been in a helpless condition requiring constant attention. During the past few months she has had several light strokes, and one week ago Monday she suffered another severe stroke, which rendered her unconscious, and she remained in that condition until death came. Every possible care was given her and medical aid rendered, but all to no avail, and she slept away at the time stated above. Three sons, Thomas, Samuel and Prine Welch, of Delphos, and two daughters, Miss Anna Welch, of Delphos, and Mrs. T. Trusx, of New London, survive. Nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.

Otho FOX 1824--1910   Otho Fox, aged eighty-six years who died Sunday evening in The Toledo Hospital was brought to this city, Monday evening. His body was immediately taken to the family home in Hoaglin Township. The deceased was a Civil War veteran and is survived by a wife, three daughters and two sons. One daughter resides in Findlay, another in Montana and Mrs Rhinesmith on south wayne street, this city. The two sons are John, of Hoaglin township and Benjamin, of Fort Wayne, Funeral services from the U.B. church Hoagllin township, Wednesday morning at ten O'clock. Burial at Woodland cemetery. Lulu Fowler who was here from Cleveland to attend the funeral of her grandfather Otho Fox of Hoaglin township has gone to her home.

  Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Fowler were held at Greenbrier church. Rev. Parvin Bond, of this city was in Charge. The deceased had been sick for some time at the home of Mr. and Mrs Icum Wade, Pleasant township. The funeral of Mrs Evaline Fowler which was conducted at the R.U.B. church south of Glenmore, last wednesday Jan 25 was attended by a large number of relatives and friends who listened with great interest to the sermon given by Rev Culberson, pastor of that meeting. Rev Culberson spoke from Psalms 17:15 and was assisted in the services by Rev. P.W. Bond pastor of the Friends Van Wert Circuit. The following obituary is a small expression of what could be truthfully said of the l ife lived by Mrs. Fowler. Evaline Byerly was born in Ross County, Ohio,August 5th,1835 and departed this life after having sent 75 years 5 months and 17 days with us, helping to lighten our every burden. Sunday January 22,1911 she accepted the invitation to retire from work and reap the reward of the seed sown, In the year 1851 on the 12 day of Jan she was united in marriage with Reuban W. Fowler. This union was blessed with eight children two of whom with the father have preceded the mother to the great beyond. For over thirty years Mrs Fowler has been a member of the U.B. church giving her service not alone to that denomination bir found her place in other denominations and especially at Antioch chapel having spent the latter part of her life near that church. Mrs Fowler leaves six children, three sons and tree daughters, eighteen granchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends to love and serve the same God she did as we mourn our loss.

   Mrs. Susan Fox, a pioneer lady of Hoaglin township died Friday morning. She was the wife of the late Otho Fox who died June 12, last. The deceased lady was 85 years of age and leaves a family of 2 sons and 3 daughters. Funeral Sunday at 1:30 from the home. Burial at Mt Pleasant cemetery. Mrs. Susan Rittner-Fox was born in Fairfield county, Nov 3, 1828 and departed this life February 17,1911 aged 82 years, three months and 13 days. She was the daughter of James and Minnie Rittner and was married to Otho F. Fox, May 21,1848. To this union were born 11 children. The husband and six children preceded her in death. She is survived by the following children: Frank of Fort Wayne; Mrs. E.B. Rinesmith of Van Wert; Mrs. William Martin of Findlay; Mrs. John Lanning of Elliston, Montana and John W. of Hoaglin township. Besides these a number of grandchildren and other relatives are left to mourn their loss.

Jacob Fast, a well-known and aged resident of Rockford, died early Tuesday morning at his home in that village. He was about seventy years of age, and is survived by a large family. Lilly and Rev. Thomas Coates.

Flickinger.   Godfrey Flickinger, a well-known citizen of this city, died at the home north of the city Saturday morning. He was best remembered by his acquaintances as a former tailor doing business here, and being compelled to give up his trade by poor health. His wife, Elizabeth, daughter, Anna and two sons William and Fred survive him.   The funeral services will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Fegley.   Death came to an aged and respected citizen of Van Wert County and one who had spent many years of his life in this vicinity, when Jas. Fegley passed away, at his home one-half miles northwest of Delphos, Monday morning at 6 o'clock. Mr. Fegley had been in failing health for some time, but was confined to his bed but a few days.   Deceased was born in Delaware County, O., in 1836, and had attained the age of 76 years. Thirty-eight years ago, when the section was in woods, Mr. Fegley came to Van Wert County and located in Washington Township. What was then a wilderness was transformed into fine farm and there Mr. Fegley lived the remaining years of his life. He is survived by his wife, one son, residing near Wren, O., and a daughter, Mrs. Tuttle, living in the vicinity of the home place.   Funeral services will be held over the remains Wednesday morning at 9 30 o'clock, from the family residence and will probably be in charge of Rev. Otis Harter, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Delphos. Mr. Fegley was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Middlepoint. The remains will be conveyed to the Ridge Cemetery and there laid to rest.

Evans   Carrie Evans, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Evans of South Washington Street, died at the family home Saturday morning, after an illness extending over a period of several months. An attack of rheumatism, which later developed into heart trouble was the cause of death. She was born in this city 12 years ago, and had resided here all of her short life.
   She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and also of the Sunday school of that church. The funeral will be held at the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. J. A. Gordon, with burial at Woodland. Friends desiring to see the remains, will call Sunday afternoon between the hours of 3 and 5.

Evans Elizabeth Evans, wife of Alban Evans of Venedocia, died at their home Sunday about noon of pneumonia, with which she had been suffering but a short time. She was about 30 years of age, and will best be remembered by many friends in the county as Miss Elizabeth Pugh. She was most highly esteemed by all who had the good fortune to come in contact with her and leaves a husband and three small sons to mourn her loss. The funeral will occur this afternoon at Venedocia.

Cromer Mrs. Clara Bell Fowler Cromer, a former resident of this county, died in Ehren, Fla., January 5, as the result of an attack of blod poisoning. She was born on the Pollock place just west of this city, Dec. 26, 1880, and resided here the greater portion of her life, receiving her education in the public schoools . She married Albert Cromer of Lima at Ft. Wayne ,Ind. Feb 10, 1903, and had resided in Lima until a little over a year ago, when they removed to Florida to make their home. She is survived by her husband , two sons and two daughters, all of tender years. She was a granddaughter of the late Otho Fox of Hoaglin Township.

Mrs. John Ward Is Flood Victim   Mrs. John Ward who for years was a resident of Ohio City, but who for three years last past, has lived at Piqua, was drowned, in the flood from which that town was a sufferer. The remains were brought here for burial Tuesday noon and the services were conducted from the Church of, God by Rev W.E. Turner of Findlay. Her two sons, Lester and Russel were saved from the waters after being nearly drowned.
   Samantha A. Grubb daughter of Moses and Sarah Grubb, was born in Allen, County, Ohio December 19, 1853, and died at Piqua, Ohio March 25, 1913, aged 59 Years, three months and six days.
  In 1875 she was united in marriage to John H. Ward City. Eight children were born to this union, six sons and two, daughters. Two sons died in infancy and the others survive, namely: Elonzo W. Ward, Gary, Ind., Clifford E. Ward, Lima, L. A. and Russel E. Ward of Piqua, Mrs. Pearl Adelblue, Gladwin, Mich., and Mrs. Lulu L. Wren. Besides the children, she is survived by her husband, two sisters, one brother and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Daniel Troutner Dies At Her Home
In Adams County, Ind., Brought
Here For Burial   Mrs. Daniel Troutner, formerly Mrs. John Coop, died last Wednesday afternoon at her home in Adams Co. Ind., about two miles west of this village. Mrs. Troutner's illness had been of short duration and her sudden demise was a great shock and surprise to her relatives and many friends.
  Mrs. Troutner has been a resident in and about Wi1lshire for the past fifty years and during this time has made the acquaintance and friendship of very many of our people.
  The funeral services were held last Saturday morning at the Baptist church of this p1ace and interment made in the Willshire cemetery.

Mrs. Updegrove has lived a devout Christian all her life, affiliating with the Methodist Church when but a small girl and was dearly loved by all that knew her.

  Allen Vore, a venerable old gentleman of 85, residing near Dayton, passed to his final reward Wednesday morning, as a result of his old age. He was well known locally, being the father of B. L. Vore of this city, and having but recently paid a visits here. He was a native of Virginia, and possessed that gentle winning disposition that seems to go so well with the true Southern gentleman, and during his visits here had won many friends. He is survived by three sons, G. B. Vore of St. Marys, Webster Vore of Dayton, and B. L. Vore of this city, who has gone to Dayton, to attend the funeral services, which will be held Thursday at the home.

Fatality to a Willshire Boy    Sidney D. Walters, brakeman on the Pennsylvania, who with Engineer Flowers went into the ditch with the derailed engine at Valparaiso, Indiana, last week Monday night, died the following Thursday morning in the Valparaiso hospital-The Fort Wayne News.
  Sidney Walters was born in Willshire 27 years ago and resided here until his enlistment in the U. S. navy. After his time of service with Uncle Sam had expired he went into the employ of the Pennsylvania and had been railroading four years at the time of his death.
  Deceased leaves a wife and one child. His remains were taken to Fort Wayne for burial.

M. F. TOPE IS DEAD AS A RESULT
OF RUNAWAY ACCIDENT
MONDAY AFTERNOON   M. F. Tope, a member of one of the most prominent families in Willshire township, died at an early hour Tuesday morning at his home near Wren as a result of injuries received in a runaway accident Monday afternoon.
  Mr. Tope had hitched a team to a heavy farm wagon and, as he was driving out of the barn, the animals became frightened and started to run, throwing him from the wagon and under the wheels which passed over the upper part of his body, fracturing several ribs and otherwise injuring him internally, so that his death resulted in a few hours. Mr. Tope was 57 years of age and enjoyed the esteem of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at Wren.

A Fatal Accident
To a Respected Van Wert
County Citizen   Melvin Tope, aged 59 years was thrown from a lumber wagon Monday noon and, received injuries from which he died thirteen hours later.
  Mr. Tope and wife had hitched a team of young horses to a lumber wagon in the barn yard at their residence home, one mile north of Wren, when the team became unmanageable, tipped the wagon and dragged Mr. Tope down between the wagon and a wire fence, the wagon wheels passing over his body in such manner as to cause his death at about the midnight hour of Monday night.
  Mrs. Tope managed to climb out of the wagon when the horses started and, although too frightened to render her husband assistance. was a witness to his injuries and first to summoned assistance. Mr. Tope suffered internal hemorrhage and after being carried into the house, informed the friends present that his injuries were fatal.
  Deceased was a citizen of exemplary life and his death has made a time of sorrow for a large circle of acquaintances. The wife, two sons and two daughters are the survivors of the family.
  The funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the U. B. church at Wren.

  Mrs. Alex Beall has been at Indianapolis, Indiana, for some time past with her friend Mrs. Amanda Williams, who was in poor health. Mrs. Williams died last week and was buried on the 21st insi. at Cardington, Ohio. Mr. Beall will return to Indianapolis for a visit with the Williams family. Mrs. Beall and the Wi1liam's were highly esteemed former residents of this place. Mr. Williams died in 1907.

Killed In Runaway. Accident, Monday    M. F. Tope. a well known farmer of near Wren, died at his home early Tuesday morning as a result of injuries received in a runaway accident, Monday. Demler of This Place.   The body of an unknown man was found in a creek about one- half mile west of Glenmore Saturday afternoon near the Erie right- of-way, having apparently fallen or been pushed from the railroad bridge, although there were no marks on the body to indicate foul play.
  The only injury on the body was quite a gash over the right eye, the cause of which bas not yet been explained.
  Coroner Sidle was summoned to the scene and made as thorough an investigation as could be made on the spot and ordered the body removed to Convoy, where a postmortem will be held to ascertain the cause of death.

  The man was fairly well dressed, about 35 years of age, five feet six inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. He was red-headed and smooth-faced. A careful search of the body failed to disclose any marks of identification of any kind,, so that if the body is ever identified it can only be done through anxious relatives starting a search for the missing man.
  The postmortem upon the body of the stranger, found in a ditch near Glenmore, developed that he died of drowning. None of the wounds on the head penetrated the skull. A bottle of whisky was found upon his person, and this discovery prompts the belief that he fell into the ditch while drunk. A note book in one of his pockets carries a labor account with the words South Bend. An inquiry will be made to learn if the officers there can aid in establishing his identity.

Tossing   Benjamin Tossing, aged 19, son of E. H. Tossing, whose home is east of Middlepoint, died at the Van Wert County Hospital Wednesday morning, where he had been receiving treatment for meningitis. The body was removed to the Vore undertaking parlors to be prepared for burial, after which it was removed to the home of his parents in Washington Township. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

CHILD DIES UNDER
PECULIAR CONDITIONS
THREE - YEAR - OLD GIRL MAY
HAVE BEEN TREATED WITH
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.   Coroner Sidle was called to the home of D. S. Thomas six and a half miles southeast of Van Wert, to investigate the sudden death of his 3-year-old daughter, Lenora, who died at noon Saturday. A post mortem conducted by Dr. Sidle, assisted by Dr. Reeder of Ohio City, developed the fact that the child died from a very bad case of diphtheria.
  It was learned that the child has been complaining for about a week, but it is said that It was thought that nothing but a bad cold was causing the trouble, and no serious condition was discovered until about 9 o'clock Saturday morning, at which time physicians were summoned but arrived too late to relieve the little sufferer. The parents state that the child was able to get up Saturday morning and walk about the room, which is a very exceptional state of affair when the patient is in the last stages of diphtheria.
  The officials have been informed that it is possible that Christian Science was applied in the case before the more serious conditions were revealed and are investigating to ascertain if a "healer" or "reader" of the cult was called in the place of a regular physician.
